We hear or read regularly about it. But I doubt the common French man cares or knows about it.
I don't consider myself an average French man (what, I can speak English, more or less, that's way above average here ), so I don't know if you'll care about my opinion.
To me, Belgium exists since mid way through the nineteenth century, and it's becoming obvious 150+ years later that it makes no sense to have those two half countries bunched as one.

We in Germany just hear in some news about belgium that you haven't got a government For example when your royals came over here
Whats going on there? Is life after this much worse than before?
I hope that you doesn't tear apart like Flandres to Netherlands and the Wallonie to France

In terms of coverage, British coverage is minimal at best, and most British people couldn't care less. The media tend to present as a kind of joke, as in haha look, Belgium is even worse than Iraq.

The belgian pride would never acept forming a nation with Netherlands.
Life isn't very bad, but since NVA ( new flemish alliance) has won the elections and the socialists in Wallonie it's a bit difficult. Like some of you may know we have 3 regions Flanders, Brussels and Wallonie. Around Brussels there's much arguing of wich language etc. i live in one of those special communes and i have to say it's difficult...
Now it all comes to the point that Flemish people are sick of paying for the people on the other side of Belgium. NVA said it doesn't want to split the country but i think they eventually are reaching they're "hidden objective" by jamming all kinds of conversations with other groups.
I'm totally not a separatist but i start thinking we are maybe better in 2 peacefull parts than in 1 constantly arguing part.

The coverage in Spain about Belgium's situation has been zero. However, given the situation of our country, I find that not having a government may be an advantage, rather than a problem.
In my opinion, Belgium is just a show of how shit nationalism is. |

Correctamundo but it is an advantage for our Prime minister who is probably doing the longest run in history.

What Flemish nationalists tend to forget, or hide, is that even though they might pay a lot for Wallonie, Wallonie remains their first customer.
And that wouldn't necessarily be case if Wallonie was separated from Flanders.
Another point is that size (population or global wealth rather geographically-speaking) is power, thus splitting will always be weakening. But I agree that it's better to be two peaceful countries rather than one with two constantly arguing parts.
And at least we'd get Gilbert and Monfort. |

Couldnt they just devolve powers in some way? I.e. in Britain while the government in London is the most important, there are both Welsh and Scottish assemblies that play key aspects in the way Wales and Scotland are run and how their budget is spent - thus creating differences between England, Scotland and Wales depending on the choices made. i.e. Medical subscriptions are free in Wales, and I think also Scotland, but not in England

No, i've never heard any "Canadian French" if i may call it that way. I do know that's it's not the ordinary french that we (Belgians) are used to hear.

+1
Most of my Canadian friends are from the French part of Canada and it`s indeed hilarious
Especially so much different than the people speaking in Belgium or France.
Actually I am much more afraid of the situation in Italy than in Belgium. But both countries have some problem at the moment I guess.
Crazy world...

For the sake of French cycling, Belgium should definitely split and Wallonie become a French district. |
