I've been trying to sign some new riders and I'm wondering if it possible to sign them on a different contract than what they initially ask for? I have tried offering some of them status as a (luxury) teammate when they asked for a contract as a protected rider. I didn't have too high hopes for them to agree and they didn't. At one point I even tried to offer the excact same contract as they asked, but they still said that the offer wasn't good enough.
One question about salary aswell; say Rider A wants a salary of 9530,-, but the salary option for me is set to 17.000 (highest wage allowed). I then move it down to 9600 since the game doesn't let you lower the salary with less then £100 at a time. Does it matter that it's not spot on?
PS.: When I get a message saying the rider has made a counter-offer, they should acctually counter with something! Telling me they don't agree is not a counter-offer, thats just being a prick!

First question: It's possible, to sign riders on a different contract than what they asked for! I wanted to sign a rider, who asked for a captain-role (I guess, he did, because he had been the captain in his current team), but he was just too weak for this captain-role in my team.. So I offered him a teammate-contract and a bit more salary.. he accepted. If a rider doesn't accept an offer, even if you pay all what he asked for, I think, he may got a better team or more money from another team.
I don't know if this will help but, young riders (Ages 22-26) usually want more money then their last contract if they had a good season (Which just means their stats when up because PCM doesn't use results to determine salary). So it could be the riders you are trying to sign have already jumped their salary up to 17.000 and you are offering based on last contract wages. Just thought.
Thanks, this is very helpfull. I have had a bit of luck with signings earlier. In my first season I got, among others, Sagan and Dekker (just back from his suspension with a form of-145). So far this year, I've managed to snag Tony Martin.

If I remember correctly, the game is bugged if you play with £ instead of €. You could try and change it to € when you are contacting riders.
Bugged? Is it? (He said suddenly remembering who made the game)
It's all about money actually... they don't care about status, they just have a price. If you go into the db, under either contract_cyclist or contract_cyclist_offer once July comes around and you can start signing riders, you'll see all the available riders will have a 'new' contract show up that doesn't actually tie back to a team... whatever the value is in that contract is their 'magic number', meet that number and they're yours.
