If you send some of your riders to a mountain camp and the stats get better, is this for ever, or will they get back to "normal" after a period of time??? |

The stats will go back to normal after a couple of months. Some thinks that this is cheating though, the opponents have not this oppertunity... |

Your rider's attributes will go back to normal 6 weeks after the trainig camp.
Just in case you didn't know, training camps DO stack!
PS:
I think training is necessary sometimes if your goals are unattainable.
Example:
In my 2nd season with Wiesenhof I'm supposed to get one cyclists in the Top 10 of 2008 Giro. My only "GT cyclist" is Gerdemann and he refuses to ride the Giro.
By sending an aging Jaksche to the training camp I might have a chance at eventually achieving my goal.

You dont have to acomplish all 5 goals, 4 is enough |

On Hard mode with a weak team like Wiesenhof, I think camps are necessary. I don't like to use them but when I started on Wiesenhof, I couldn't even get my guys to finish with the Peloton on flat stages. they'd just crap out because their stats were in the 50s and low 60s except for a few guys like Ciolek and Radochla.
The other place I "cheat" is that I just remove rider programmes altogether. they prevent me from using my team how I want to and just become a pain in my arse. I would spend hours before the season started, figuring out the riders race schedules such that everyone would be satisfied. As a result, some good riders (particularly sprinters) were never used effectively because they wanted to ride the Tour Down Under, Tour of California, all the classics, the Giro, TdF and Vuelta. So now i just delete them all with an editor and run the team my way. It's much less work and then I can focus on the fun part which is racing. |

Same goes for me, cmfos. The rider programs are a fun part of the game to start with, but when getting more experienced they really are an irritating factor. |

well, as long as the programs are realistic, and fits pretty good to mine, i leave ´em, but when only 0 of your riders with a chance to end in the overall top 10 in Paris-Nice wanna compete, its not fun... |

In my opinion, cyclists shouldn't have a complete racing calendar.
Instead, let each of the better riders have 1-3 races that he definately wants to participate in (f.e. Boonen in RvF, P-R and WC) and the rest of the schedule is up to you.
This would be A LOT more realistic and would offer a "smoother" game experience.

Yah I agree. If the goals are realistic, then it enhances the game and makes it more true to real-life. The problem is that once your team gets to be successful, you have to juggle 10+ schedules and it's a nightmare. But if each team has 1-3 leaders and they have demands, I'm happy to work with them. Some people on the official PCM forums have suggested an interview feature in the next version of the game whereby you can sit down and negotiate schedules with your top riders. Might be interesting. And in real-life, you know that on Team Discovery, they have major scheduling problems with Basso, Leipheimer, Contador and, to a lesser degree, Tom Danielson all as legitimate GC contenders and all probably wanting a piece of glory in the TdF this year. |
