Think Nibali might have this one in the bag.
Am playing with Sky in the 2011 season. Is it usual for the Giro lineup to be this weak?

depending on the dtabase, Cunego and Scarponi could challenge, but wow, normally only the Vuelta has that bad a field.
That said, Liquigas normally get a 1-2 in the Giro in my first couple of seasons.

Yeah, they did the 1-2 with Nibali - Basso last year. Nibali has gone to Saxo Bank and I'm guessing Basso is going to ride the Tour instead this year.
I'm expecting Hesjedal and Lofkvist to get into the top 10.
There aren't even any decent sprinters! Except Griepel and Bozic. |

With Pozzovivo, Brajkovic, Vandevelde, Soler, Sobo, LL Sanchez, Fuglsang, Paulinho and Caruso there are still quite a few good climbers. Also some good sprinters in the peloton.
There were much weaker startlists I think, Nothing against the Tour of course, but stronger than Vuelta especially as the won`t be in form then.
Cunego, Scarponi and Brajkovic depending on the stats could all challenge Nibali. At least they would with the stats in my career.
Sagan, Förster, McEwen, Greipel, Goss, Bozic, Hunter, Modolo, Napolitano, Petacchi and Lorenzetto are also quite a few sprinters.

I would actually say it's a quite good and realistic Giro startlist. None of the typical Giro riders missing (except for Garzelli, but maybe he has declined in your DB). |

I would call them decent climbers at best. Pozzovivo and Soler can't TT so they will loose time there. Vandevelde and Brajkovic haven't been classed as their teams leaders so must be in bad form. The others are all well short of being GT class climbers.
As for the sprinters Petacchi and McEwen are past it. Griepel and Bozic get knackered going over a bridge and the others wouldn't get in the top 10 consistantly at the tour.
I know there are lots of decent riders in the field, but I would have expected a few World Class GC riders at least. |

Apart from Basso and Bennati.
Maybe it's just me. I would have just expected a much stronger line up for the second biggest stage race of the year.
Oh well, at least I have a good shot at the podium |

This one isn't too far from the startlist in my career. Nibali won it, he completely destroyed everyone... why did it have to be NIBALI, WHY??
In the end it looked like this:
1. Nibali
2. + 9 minutes
3. + 18 minutes
4. + 22 minutes
5. + 25 minutes |

You should be glad to have this startlist, you have a chance to do something with Hesjedal. In my 2nd season with Geox i had both Schlecks,Contador,Anton,Nibali,Basso at Giro+top italian contenders
But i must admit it was great Giro,my from Cofidis bought and hugely developing Taramae lost this Giro to Contador in final time-trial,the Top10 was within 10minutes
Go Roman!

Mine was fairly similar to this also, I only had Nibsli, Scarponi, Cunego and Pinotti as real contenders. I still managed to lose by 13s', but it was pretty weak.

i've just reached the first rest day with Hesjedal in 3rd, about 6 mins down on Scarponi.
Scarponi is just too strong and is about 6 mins ahead of Brajkovic in second. on the first hilly stage he attacked halfway through the stage and won by 6 mins
My team pulled of a tactical masterpiece in the last mountain stage by pulling hard on the last 5k of the first climb and completely splitting the peleton. There was a front group of 13 riders which included Hesjedal, Lofkvist, EBH, Veikkanen, Kennaugh and Cioni. Nibali and Cunego both missed the split and finished way down. In the end there were 6 riders who finished together Hesjedal, Lofkvist, Cobo, Scarponi, Brajkovic and Wyss.
I think the overall win is beyond me but a podium finish is now a real possibility. |

Pozzovivo just did the same thing as Scarponi and now leads the Giro!!!
surely this must be some kind of bug. I had my whole team at the front chasing him on his own and he just rode away from the peleton.
Also, on the last stage over 50 riders got wiped out because of the time limit. The Giro now has 104 riders left

Just rode the Giro 2011 (started career in 2010). Mine had a similar field as posted above with Basso taking Scarponi's place as a GC-contender. Nibali won (what a surprise) riding for Quickstep, but this Giro he really had a hard time winning it. Nicholas Roche (Mo 78, Hi 78) pulled off a trick like Scarponi and Pozzovivo did in Ringo's Giro, but he couldn't hold on to his lead in the final time trial.
I managed to get a 4th with Porte (Mo 76, Hi 76, TT 78) behind Nibali, Roche and Basso. Thank God for the narrow mountain roads
Also a lot of withdrawals due to insane racing in some stages, but somehow I kinda like that |

sounds identical to mine.
I finished 4th with Hesjedal behind Scarponi, Pozzovivo and Nibali.
Only 95 riders finished the race in mine as well. |

Sounds kinda familiar. But most of you have Nibali starting, I didn't. Pozzovivo won, 2nd Scarponi, 3rd Basso (already 6 minutes down) and that's it (well Cunego finished 4th with over 10 mins). I finished 13th with Monfort (Fuglsang would have been the better choice). |
