I believe that one of the biggest news about the next PCM is the new models of the riders. By that I mean the fact that they shouldn't be able to pass through eachother anymore, atleast not very often. This is a feature which can make or brake the game in my view. It can make it by adding more realism to the races, even though I don't really think about riders passing through eachother anymore. However, there are several ways it can "brake it" I feel.
I feel this might be a problem unless the AI is aware of it too. By that I mean the AI must act as though they can't pass through others. Say you are sending someone back to get water. Today this isn't a problem, but it might be. I'm abit afraid that we might end up with a situation where you can't get water because your rider is constantly blocked by others and they are not lettting him back up.
My greatest fear is what would happen if someone would fall in the pack. At the moment it seems like it's down to chance wether or not the one who fell dosn't interfere at all or if he takes down the whole pack. The peoloton in PCM is alot more close together then you would ever find in real life, therefor it takes only a second or two before the last rider in the pack has passed the guy who fell. In real life you have the ability to notice a fall and navigate around it, as long as you arn't right in the middle of it. If riders are unable to pass through eachother and the AI isn't changed a bit one single fall might take down 90+ riders from the peloton.
What about the front of the peloton? Will I be unable to follow a breakaway because there is someone blocking my path? Think about sprinttrains aswell. At the moment they seem to move from left to right regardless, but that never happens. Will my train suddenly be cut in half just because HTC suddenly goes left (insert Renshaw joke here).
I know it might seem like I'm very negative to the whole thing now, but believe me, I'm not! If Cyanide gets it to work it will be great, if they don't... not so much. But whatever problem arises it's probably not something that a patch or five can't fix. |

I agree with a lot of those points, but I don't really know what kind of reaction you're looking for?
We won't know whether Cyanide has thought of this until the game is released - or until they decide to participate in an interview... |

It`s also lightly discussed in the "Here for hoping for 2011" thread I think. |

I wasn't hoping for a "reaction" of any kind, just throwing some ideas out there. |

I don't think it will create a problem at all. If it does not work, Cyanide can just change it back as it was before. |

I really dont understand your point of view
If it does not work in freshly released game, then it is a problem for me,and a BIG one.
And dont tell me they will realize it before release, because we all now what shitty gameplay got throug beta-test in 2010 edition

hellboy: I did not say that the should/could fix it AFTER the release. So stop the eye rolling.
BTW: Nobody forces you to buy a bugged game on the day of release. Only stupid people do that year after year... |

I wasnt saying that too,but i dont believe in scenario where Cyanide is trying to fix it, or leave tis feature completly before release when it is not woking for them. They were talking about this feature for so long that i cant see them getting rid of it

Seriously? Someone is stupid when he buys the game on release day? I cant stop the eye rolling if there is someone with these oppinions. Stupidity and even a fraud is when the game is so bugged on release day.How i am supposed to judge that the game is bugged without buying it (if i dont wanna be a pirate)?

This system can work if they make the riders come up and down the peloton like they do in real life. When they are going to the back they just slow down a bit and let the other riders ride past them. When they are going up they will have to pass the peloton on the sides. Like in real life a rider must ride in the wind on the edge of te road just to get some drink to his teammates, |

maybe invent a stat that takes care about how good a rider is in moving up and down in the pack, like using elbows and that nervous preparation for a sprint but maybe it isn't possible.

Well, it took 5 years of begging to get the prologue stat, so don't count on a new stat anytime soon |

I just don't see how this will work together with the 1/10 scale and the small streets. My riders even get blocked in PCM10 sometimes!
But somehow i believe they will make it work right. When it comes to big things, like the new 3d engine for example, they somehow make it on their first try! And in my opinion this feature is a big deal, although it wasn't announced like some... |

It would be much better if they fix the reason behind the random occurrences of riders falling behind the peloton, without any apparent reason, when they are sent to fetch water, then to implement a totally new physics tweak.
It drives me nuts when it happens.

If offense is the best defence, does it mean that defence is the worst defence?
