The Richeze's have been the dominant pair in the sprints in the battle against the Haedo's, in fact rather surprising Lucas Sebastiona Haedo has not even had a team this year. His brother JJ Haedo has suffered a lean year too, Borrajo and Bongiorno didn't quite hit regular notes either in this strong sprinters nation.

The course is however hilly:

and thus will suit stage race domestique Brizuela (Lipton). Though in truth there is not a lot in it, only Bongiorno and the control rider are dropped in the first 175km or so.

Max Richeze (rather than Pearl Adidas's Mauro) begins to power away from the other six riders with about 75km to go.

Brizuela launches a desperate bid to get across to the UBS man.

But Richeze simply powers clear and just keeps tapping out a devastating rhythm coming home by more than three minutes clear of anyone else.

In the time trial we got a pretty big battle between uncontracted Juan Pablo Dotti and the well rounded Lipton man Brizuela.

It looked briefly like an upset might be on the cards but the Protour man managed to come through in the end.
