Accumalux are celebrating their 5 season in the team, while the Italian Volcano Mount Vesuvies happy to also renew for a 2nd season. And why wouldnt they, this is after all the most successful team in the game!
For a 6th year in a row, Frank Schleck will lead the squad - able supported by Grand Tour contenders Rigoberto Uran and Benat Intxausti. Add to this the climbing talent of Maxim Iglinski, Dmitri Medvedev, and Mwangi Samwel, dedicated super-domestique Matea Kvasina, time trialists Marcel Kittel and Michael Ford, and a developing band of Luxembourg youngsters such as Ben Gastauer - plus a continuing desire to expand - and you have a team always expecting to be battling at the top end of the world of cycling. No other team has won the ProTour two times!
As well as Accumalux and Vesuvio, Luxembourg sponsors Zanussi and Arcelor also commit once again - while equipment sponsors Pinarello, Giro, Campagnolo and Ambrosio have all indicated a desire to continue to supply the team.
Every team needs a jersey, and where would we be without the world's greatest! Our thanks go out to the 'Cleaver Kit Corporation'.

Vesuvio ready to strengthen after great renewals process
Frank Schleck's wage may have gone up, but notable pay cuts for Rigoberto Uran and Benat Intxausti put the team into a strong position to improve in the upcoming transfer season.

We also have suitcases stuffed full of cash waiting to offer you in exchange for Uran. I don't think he's going anywhere though.
Rigoberto is worth more than money to us, and it would take a lot to separate what we hope to be a fairly long term relationship.

Rumors have it that Kirchen and Thill had talks with Vesuvio. Bacardi would like to know if their is any truth in these rumors?
As a company, Accumalux is hoping to invest in new Luxembourg talent in the upcoming transfers season, and so opt to focus on the free agency rather than those who already have a team, such as Tom Thill, who we were of the impression was particularly looking forward to riding the ProTour with Bacardi as a reward for his domestique duty over the past season.
In regards to Kim, he is of course a rider who we would love to have onboard, but regrettably, Bacardi appear to have offered him a level of paypacket that we may not also be able to match. We certainly would be wary of committing to anything at such an early stage in proceedings, as the wages of other targets must initially take priority.
Team Rothaus - Aegon is very interested in young German talents.
So of course there is a possible link to your two German time trialists Barth and Kittel.

Time trial strength always has and always will be an integrable part of our team, and Marcel Kittel is of particular importance in his ability to push for individual results, while also being the key part of our team time trial team. We may be willing to listen to offers for Marcel Barth however, but only if we are able to secure adequate team time trial replacement, be it from the team interested in Barth, or from elsewhere.

Are Iglinsky and Samwel available?
Mwangi Samwel is not for sale this year. So keen were we to keep him, we loaned him out last year when unable to find the funds, rather than sell him. This year we have the funds, and are excited to see him perform in the ProTour having witnessed him take victories at the Continental level.
We will listen to offers for Maxim Iglinski, but they will have to be good.
The Cafe de Colombia team have been coming in for a lot of criticism from the Colombian media this last week. Many in the country are unhappy that Fabio Duarte was let go and also at the rumours that Damiano Cunego is number one transfer target. Journalists are saying that Rigoberto Uran must be brought to the team and Danny Summerhill's name has appeared in early evening reports tonight as a possible makeweight in a deal.
Vesuvio feels that the Colombian media should appreciate, as they did in July, that there is at least 1 team who are built around a Colombian leader in the Tour de France - even if it is not Colombian! Cafe de Colombia appear to be doing great disrespect to the talents of Colombian cyclists by suggestings Danny Summerhill would be an adequate replacement in any team for the great Rigoberto Uran!
Rumours are flying around that Team Festina's two Belgian Timetriallist Jurgen van Goolen and Kristof Goddaert is learning to speak d'Groussherzogtum Lëtzebuerg at the moment. Also if the rumours are true Marcel Kittel has spoken his will to join the German team, and his personal friend Patrick Gretsch.
The medias are speculating about whether a transfer concerning Goddart and van Goolen + some cash going the way of Vesuvio could trigger a release of Marcel Kittel in the direction of Festina.
While it may be the case that Jurgen van Goolen and Kristoff Goddaert are keen to escape Festina into a team such as our own, Marcel Kittel has tweeted to express the fact that he cannot envisage riding in a colour other than the red of Vesuvio. It would seem like Patrick Gretsch has a great desire to be friends with the German time trialists who are younger and better than him - perhaps this is because he also hopes to be joining a different team, and that perhaps Kittel could help him out there? It is certainly true that Vesuvio is a profitable environment for German time trialists to be in.
The journalist responsible for the Danny Summerhill - Rigoberto Uran deal has published an apology to the two riders, the Cafe de Colombia and the Vesuvio-Accumalux teams. The journalist admitted to his editor that he had dreamed the whole story up. His rather lame excuse was that Danny Summerhill is one of the best riders around and he thought if the idea could be planted with all involved that the teams may act on it and Rigoberto could ride in Colombian colours next year. Cafe de Colombia have refused to comment on the story and the journalist responsible has not been seen since approx. 10pm last night.
