Team Venchi Procycling Headquarter
We are proud to present the new Italian Continental team; Team Venchi ProCycling. The Norwegian `Sykkel_Freak` will lead the Italian team. Venchi will be focused around young Italian riders, and we also hope to sign a decent hill rider or two. The Italian chocolate producer Venchi has signed a deal with SF Academy to sponsor the team through the 2013 season. Meaning they will be the main sponsor and a part of the name through the two upcoming seasons. Also the coffee producer Lavazza and the oil company Eni will sponsor the team at least trough this season.
In yesterday’s La Gazzetto dello Sport, `Sykkel_Freak` said the following about the team ambitions: - We hope to show our team colors to the world and maybe surprise with a big win or two. It’s very important for me, that our team will consist of riders who are willing to attack, and fight very hard to bring glory to the team. Mainly our squad will consist of Italian riders, but we might look for some other riders from Central Europe. Hill riders are what we want, but though would a decent sprinter be a good resource to the team.
Team Venchi ProCycling will have their bikes supplied by De Rosa [Edit: Pinarello], who has been making bikes through many years, for Italian cycling teams. The design is though still unknown. Santini, one of the most known clothing suppliers in the world of cycling, will deliver clothes to Venchi. Many ProTour teams have used Santini up through the seasons, and the quality of the clothes is known for being very good. The jersey Team Venchi ProCycling will be wearing this year is designed by the well known Dane `Will007`.

Sponsors 2012
Venchi is an Italian gourmet chocolate manufacturer founded by Silvano Venchi. After its establishment in Turin in early 1878, the company gained popularity throughout Italy with its Nougatine, small candies made of crushed and caramelized hazelnuts coated in dark chocolate. The company's manufacturing follows typically regional recipes. Venchi will be our main sponsor for the two upcoming seasons, and will provide most of our budget.
Lavazza is an Italian manufacturer of coffee products. Founded in Turin in 1895 by Luigi Lavazza, it was initially run from a small grocery store at Via San Tommaso 10. The business of Lavazza is currently administered by the third and fourth generation of the Lavazza family. Lavazza will sponsor our team at least through the upcoming 2012 season, and will provide a small part of our budget.
Eni is an Italian multinational oil and gas company, present in 70 countries, and currently Italy's largest industrial company. The Italian Government owns a 30% golden share in the company, 20% held through the state Treasury and 10% held through the Cassa depositi e prestiti. Eni will as Lavazza provide a small part of our budget through the 2012 season.

Press Release: De Rosa pulls out their sponsorship!
Previous this month, De Rosa signed a deal with the Vespa team, making them a main sponsor for the upcoming season. De Rosa therefor today decided to withdraw the sponsorship with Venchi, only few hours after the team announced their participation in the Continental Tour. De Rosa made the decision alongside with the manager of Vespa - Aprila - De Rosa, Fenian_1234, and the management of Venchi accepted the pull-out.
Another Italian bike supplier did tough contact Venchi immediately after the news was released, and after a round of negotiations, Pinarello signed a contract making them the new frame supplier. Pinarello also was announced to be the frame supplier of the new polish team, Orlen Cycling Team earlier today.

Transfer Rumors
Venchi has kept their wishes regarding riders, top secret, until now. A central source inside Venchi, who wants to be anonymous, claims that he has gotten access to the manager of the team, ‘Sykkel_Freak’s shortlist. The man claims that the Festina rider Diego Ulissi is the main target in the upcoming transfer season, and that it hopefully will be an all-round team built up around him. The man also names riders like, Mauro Santambrogio and Matteo Bono, who both will be Free Agents, as their current team has been disbanded from the upcoming season. We asked our source, if it’s interesting with any foreign riders for Venchi, and got the answer that the Time Trial specialist Rick Flens was a highly likely rider to join Venchi in the 2012 season.
We confronted team manager ‘Sykkel_Freak’ with these statements, and ‘Sykkel_Freak’ told us the following: - Diego is a great rider, and it would be great to sign him, but currently he is under a contract with Festina, and it’s quite big odds, that his wage (currently € 250.000) will rise. We need to face that it’s highly unlikely Diego will find his way down to the Continental Tour, and that we can afford him, but it would absolutely be a fantastic signing if we manage to get him. About the other riders, I can confirm that we have them in our thoughts, but I can’t tell you more than that.
TALENT: Diego Ulissi to join Venchi in the upcoming season? PHOTO: Sirotti
Ulissi, who recently finished 41 in the individual rankings for the 2011 season, didn’t wanted to comment on these statements. Festina – CONEC also did a press release the 21st of March, where it was stated that Ulissi may be the captain of the team in the upcoming season, which makes it even harder for Venchi to sign him. Though could money be the crucial fact. The disbanding of Intesa and La Gazzetto dello Sport will though open huge opportunities for signing young Italian super talents. With many Italian teams in the field, it will probably be a huge fight for the Italian riders when the transfer season opens in a few weeks.

Venchi Announces Team Goals
After the race calendar for the upcoming season was announced yesterday, Team Venchi ProCycling joins the list of team’s who has revealed their Team Goals. Their 5 goals have been introduced as very tough, but reachable with the right squad of riders. Being dominated by Italian sponsors, their goals, is not surprisingly dominated by Italian races. Though, we find both France and Norway among their target races, which you can see above under “Season 2012”.
Venchi’s first goal presented is the Italian HC race Giro dell'Emilia, where the goal is nothing else then top 5. The former ProTour race has been at the goal list for many teams the last seasons, and has contained top riders from all over the world. Last year, Riccardo Ricco won the race in a small group sprint, in Bacardi – Colt’s first season. This victory convinced the management in Venchi that it was possible to get top 5, and maybe even win the Italian race with a new team.
Our second goal is to win the Brixia Tour. With competition from for example Aker Solutions – Bergans, who also aim for the win, the competition will be tough in all stages. The team still sees the goal as overcome able. Venchi are also aiming for top 5 in Giro del Trentino and Volta ao Algarve, and finalized it with the goal of being one of the top 5 teams in Europe Tour team standings. With all the goals for the upcoming season ready, Venchi will start the work to finish the shortlist, worked out from the team goals.
In other news, our designer Will007, updated the design of our jersey, and Pinarello has been given a sponsor place above the chest. The jersey can be seen in the first post. Pinarello is currently working on the Time Trial bike for the upcoming season, and with also a designer from Shimano designing a disc wheel, we expect to reveal our 2012 equipment in a few days.

I think I'm going to be a fan of your team, just because it makes me remind of Energie-Diesel. If you ever become interested in any of my italians I'd be glad to keep watching them racing in a red, black & white uniform

Nice to hear. I've already have a couple of your riders attached to my head, actually. So you will probably hear from me in the future. I was a little bit scared when I saw the wage of em though. I thought there was a 0 too much in Viviani's transfer thread when you bought him!

First signing ready
The transfer season is here, and today, we are proud to announce our very first signing. He is one of the best sprinters in the world, and a decent cobble rider. The previous season he rode for the Portuguese team Energie Diesel (Cerne). Today he finally signed for a team from his home country. The rider we are talking about, is of course Claudio Corioni.
Claudio, who finished 2nd on stage 4 of the Tour de France 2011, says he is very happy to be a part of the new Italian team. “I’ve followed this team from the start, and when I heard Cerne had received a bid, I was so happy!”. Corioni didn’t take any stage wins last year, a period he wants do end. “An Italian team build up around him will help him. He has a big potential, and I hope it will show this year,” said manager of Venchi ‘Sykkel_Freak’.

Duarte one of several new signings
Over the last few days Venchi has signed 8 more riders since the signing of Claudio Corioni. Among them are one of our teamleaders for the season, and one pretty talented Time Trialer. We have also managed to sign a couple of good domestiques, and got 2 riders on loan.
The two first free agents we signed, is the italians Valerio Agnoli and Francesco Reda. Agnoli, who last year raced in the team colors of Intesa, is yet again back in an Italian team. He is a great domestiques, with nice qualities in the mountains. He will be of great help for our stage racers. Reda, was last year a part of Bacardi – Colt. The team that impressed with promotion to the ProTour after only 1 season! Reda will also be an important helper in our team.
Two riders is ready for a one year loan spell in our team. These riders are Ole Haavardsholm from Norway, and Mario Gonzalez Salas from Spain. Both will focus on getting more experience from races. Gonzalez Salas will be a helpful part of our Time Trial team in Brixia Tour, where we aim for nothing else than to win with our captain. Haavardsholm will be muched used in both stageraces and one-day races.
We have also managed to sign 2 great Time Trialers. Maciej Bodnar from Poland and Luigi Sestili from Italy. Hopefully they can both get us some wins on Time Trials, and they will potentially be of a very good value in the leadout train for Corioni or other sprinters. We are looking forward to see what they can perform in our team colours.
Last but not least, we are very excited to present a very big name, and one of the biggest Time Trial talents at the moment. The riders we are talking about is of course, Fabio Duarte and Phan Age Haugard. Duarte didn’t sign any new contract with Café de Columbia after a rather disappointing 2011 season. We are looking forward to see how he will do in this CT team. Phan may become one of the best Time Trialers in a 3-years time. In 2010 he won the Norwegian Championship ITT in the junior class, and has finally signed for a professional team. Welcome! The next week we hopefully will present some more names.
