The winner of the previous 2 editions, David Zabriskie, is the man to follow today as well, but even though the time - trials are usually not hard to predict, we could see a surprise today, especially after saw Zabriskie losing the rainbow jersey to Phinney a couple of weeks ago
William Bonnet was the second rider to start today, but that didn't stop the French man bringing a top quality result for Lafarge. The time of 1 hour, 6 minutes and 40 seconds should definitely keep him in the lead for an while
Quite surprising Auber's Kai Reus was able to beat that time. He was slower than Bonnet at all the intermediate check points and at the finish line he was 44 seconds slower than the leader
Another Dutch rider finished after Reus, but he wasn't able to beat Bonnet's time either. Still he took a provisional second place, 4 seconds faster than Reus
The Former U23 World Champion, Marcel Kittel, was another victim of Bonnet's perfect ride. The German finished with the second provisional time, beating both Van Winden and Reus, just 15 slower than Bonnet
Last year's Continental time - trials king and the current Belgian Champion,
Dominique Cornu, looked better than Bonnet at the intermediate checks, but at the finish line he failed to take the lead for 8 seconds
The future of the German time - trialling, Jacob Fiedler, had quite a disappointing ride and not that he wasn't able to beat Bonnet's time, he failed to do so by almost one minute
Starbucks' leader, Andrei Amador, was even further down in the rankings, losing 1 minute and a half to Bonnet
Sebastian Lang, a former winner of the race, was Sony Ericsson's best hope for a top result here he lost almost one minute to Bonnet, which gave him no chance for a top 10 at the end. Still that won't stop Sony Ericsson winning the Pro Tour rankings
Brajkovic wasn't a real favorite for the first places but he still managed quite a decent ride to keep Domina's hopes for a top 10 in the Pro Tour high. He finished with the same time as Lang
Bonnet's dream was over as soon as Coppel started the race. The French Champion stormed into the lead at the intermediate check points, leaving Bonnet with no hopes of maintaining the lead
Behind Coppel, another big gun was coming - the Swiss Champion, Fabian Cancellara. Even though he also beat Bonnet's time at the intermediate checks, he was far from Copper, losing 8 seconds after 7 kilometers and 49 seconds after 30 kilometers
Right after Cancellara, we had Zabriskie, who was riding for the last time in the rainbow jersey. At the first check he had the same time as Coppel, but at the second one, he was already 10 seconds faster than the Auber rider
Coppel was really impressive today, even catching Brajkovic, who started the race 2 minutes before he did. At the finish line the French Champion had the time of 1 hour 5 minutes and 23 seconds
Cancellara wasn't able to beat that time and he didn't improve at all since the last check, losing 1 minute and 11 seconds to Coppel in 48 kilometers
Zabriskie was able to top Coppel's time though and after finishing 25 seconds faster than the French Champion, Dave might get a one last win before giving the rainbow jersey to Phinney
The Dutch Champion, Joost Posthuma, had a pretty decent ride, but he still lost more than 2 minute to Zabriskie, who was looking really good in the provisional lead
The Former Tour de France winner, Markus Fothen, saved his season after winning the Deutschland Tour and today he got another good result, considering his skills, finishing 2 minutes and 36 seconds to Z
Vincenzo Nibali wasn't able to bring the Italian jersey at the top, coming a pretty disappointing result after losing almost 3 minutes to David Zabriskie
Boom could have continued Auber's list of good results in time - trials, but he had a rather bad day and lost exactly 3 minutes to Zabriskie
One of Zabriskie's big rivals, Michael Rogers, started the race soon after Boom and things were looking again good for Zabriskie, with Rogers being 4 seconds slower than him at the first check point. But the Aussie somehow managed to get back in the game and at the second check, he was the man to beat, 10 seconds faster than Zabriskie
His compatriot and former team - mate, Michael Ford, on the other hand wasn't looking that good, but he seemed able to grab a top 10 place, even though he was far from Rogers and Zabriskie's time
Thomas Dekker has failed to win a race this year and he will definitely not get his redemption here, finishing the race outside the top 10
Behind him, Phinney and Plaza were starting the race. The first will wear the rainbow jersey next season and he is definitely dieing to show that he deserves it. But at the intermediate checks, he was far from the best times, 8 seconds behind Zabriskie at the first one and 56 seconds behind Rogers at the second one
At the line, Rogers beat Zabriskie's time by 16 seconds, completing what have been a pretty unsuccessful for Z, the hoping to save a part of his season in the National Championships now.
The fresh World Champion, Phinney, missed the podium today after finishing 1 minute and 24 seconds behind Roger's time
Plaza won a time - trial in the Vuelta, but the competition here was way stronger and he wasn't even able to take a place in the top 15
Keizer had an amazing ride and managed to beat Cancellara's time by only 2 seconds, which gave the Dutch ride the last place in the top 5, 1 minute and 50 seconds slower than Rogers though.
