Go Gesink!
In all fairness, on this course he doesn't have a real shot at overall victory, too easy and a short flat TT and a TTT in it...
Will be looking to Evans, Hagen, maybe even Cancellara? |

I belive in Gesink. He was very strong in Tour of Oman. Maybe Scarponi, Basso, or another italien rider can show good shap in their own country. If they show up to the race.
Gesink FTW!
(He is my favorite rider )

If he tries, Gilbert has every chance of winning the overall on this course. I also like the chances of the Lampre guys. Evans will have a good team for the TTT.
I wonder how Di Luca will do. |

I'm hoping for Löfkvist. If he is in form, he should be able to fight in the top.

For me those six would be my personal favourites. Scarponi has to be a favourite, but I think he will leak too much time in the ITT. Gesink... maybe, will he bring his Oman form? Rodriguez should win a stage, and he isn't that bad in short ITTs, but he will need a time gap (or multiple wins). Evans, very hard to know his form. If Gilbert really tries he might do very well, but stage win is more expected of him. He wants to be in good shape for MSR, so burning himself too much here, would't leave him in best position.
Whilst originally being dismissive of Cancellara's chances I am somewhat warming to that idea absolute peak form Cancellara could take the damage on those finishes and burn 30s off everyone in the ITT, but is that who will show up? Similar story to EBH, but being burnt by his Oman performance I'm more reluctant to write him off this time!
Lofkvist, I can't see him winning any stages, but with good itt, tt and maybe lucky epcape, he could do Top5, if he is in form, though he diddn't race too many races beforehand.
At the moment, I see these six figthing it our for the overall. But much can change.
Gilbert
Evans
Gesink
Rodriguez
Garzelli
Scarponi

If I was to have some sleeper picks Santambrogio of BMC would defanitely be one. Of course only for stage wins.

Evans already said that he doesn`t think to reach a lot.
He just wants to ride a little bit without big results.
But of course this doesn`t mean very much when he starts very well. |

I believe and hope for Löfkvist to. With a 3rd and 4th in the GC here before he has proved that he´s doing well in this race. The other Sweden, G.Larsson can do a good result to but maybe a little weak team in the TT.
But as a winner I say, Marco Pinotti. |
