Saeco Cannondale
diasdagoberto
I created this custom team; Saeco Cannondale and I thought I might share it with you.

This is the first time I try to write a story, so don`t be go to hard on me.
Currently playing on hard difficulty with the original database (2010). I know that might be a boring choice, but I will have to blame my good old Acer laptop, which can`t handle all the extra information in the more advanced databases... but we will see if we can make it interesting and well readable.
So here it goes...

diasdagoberto
A little bit about the choice of team. I made a custom team. I named it Saeco Cannondale as the name was (if I don`t remember wrong). I must admit it was my favorite team at that time, and you can still see me on the road in my Saeco shirt (if you are lucky).

So for the 2010 season Saeco is back as a sponsor at the continental tour. The squad will consist of young promising Italian riders. The team will focus on the Italian calender, and the main goal will of course be the Giro De Italia.

The 2010 shirt will look like this;

i1090.photobucket.com/albums/i362/dlangli/saeco.png

So first of all a big thank you to the creater of this nice shirt. I am very thankfull for the work done. And my team will wear it with pride.

I don´t have cannondale bikes for my team yet, not to good with the changing of gear in the databasee. Can anyone help me with this problem?

The 2010 roaster will follow soon.

diasdagoberto
After a long selection process the squad is finally complete:
i1090.photobucket.com/albums/i362/dlangli/teamsaeco.jpg

With the following leaders;

i1090.photobucket.com/albums/i362/dlangli/Modolo.jpg
Modolo is the teams sprinter. He has promising sprint results in Italian races the last years, and will hopefully make his Giro debut in 2010, and maybe he is the next Cipollini?

i1090.photobucket.com/albums/i362/dlangli/visconti.jpg
Visconti is well known to most people. He has already shown great results, National Champion 2007, 4th in Giro de Lombardia 2008 and several victories on the UCI Europe Tour.
Milan-San Remo and Giro de Lombardia together with the Giro de Italia will be his priorities this season.
Can 2010 be his final breakthrough?

i1090.photobucket.com/albums/i362/dlangli/pozzovio.jpg
A great climber well known from the Giro. He is the man for the mountains.

i1090.photobucket.com/albums/i362/dlangli/masciarelli.jpg
Should also be mentioned. Promising young fellow. Maybe he can stir things up in some of the smaller stage races.

i1090.photobucket.com/albums/i362/dlangli/lorenzetto.jpg
Will be our hope in sprint finishes together with Modolo.

The Goals for the 2010 season;
i1090.photobucket.com/albums/i362/dlangli/goals.jpg
The goals from our sponsors looks manageable for our team, and our team will of course take the tasks seriously. Our first Goal is GP costa degli Etruschi is only a few weeks away so that will be our first priority.

Other goals for the early season is to receive invites for;
1) Tirreno-Adriatico
2) Milan-San Remo
3) Giro de Italia

The calendar for february;

All goals are reachable but will you try to get stage wins in tn and the giro or will you go for the GC?

Well, first goal firstWink
First we must reach the Giro.
But hopefully we can get a stage win with Modolo in a sprint, as he is my new Cipollini.
I dont know for the GC, I dont know how far Pozzovio and Maschiarelli can reach. What is realistic?

diasdagoberto
The first race this season will be the Giro della Calabria; 4 stages in Hilly terrain. The 3 first stages might be decided in a mass sprint, while the 4th stage will be the decisive one for the GC.

Visconti is in good shape and will lead the team in this race.
A few days after this race awaits our first sponsor goal this season; Coppa Costa degli Etruschi, so this race is as important just to get some good race kilometers.
The biggest names present are; Alessandro Petacchi, Romain Feillu, Peter Sagan. Its early in the season so I think it will be a quite open race.

Our team;
Giovanni Visconti
Marco Marcato
Mauro Facci
Ivan Santaromita
Carlo Scognalmiglio
Simone Maschiarelli

i1090.photobucket.com/albums/i362/dlangli/Calabria/Stage1.jpg
1st Stage; Some hills at the end, this might actually be a good finish for Visconti, but its his first race this season, so we don´t expect to much.

i1090.photobucket.com/albums/i362/dlangli/Calabria/stage12.jpg
The early breakaway got caught in the last hill, Visconti tried do get away, but he did not have the legs, Ongarato took the sprint in from off Enrico Rossi. Visconti ended up in a promising 7th position.

diasdagoberto
Stage 2

i1090.photobucket.com/albums/i362/dlangli/Calabria/stage21.jpg
New opportunity, some hills at the end, but i might be difficult to get away, but again the emphasis is on getting a good workout and being alert the last kilometers, and maybe pull something of...

i1090.photobucket.com/albums/i362/dlangli/Calabria/stage22.jpg

Visconti leading the field into the last hill, the breakaway is a minute ahead with 14 kilometers to go.

i1090.photobucket.com/albums/i362/dlangli/Calabria/stage23.jpg
7 Kilometers to go, breakaway caught, Visconti got 30 sec to the peloton in the last hill, he`s strong today, but the peloton is closing in.

i1090.photobucket.com/albums/i362/dlangli/Calabria/stage24.jpg
1 Kilometer to go, Visconti is giving it all, but Feillu and Reyes is breathing down his neck.

i1090.photobucket.com/albums/i362/dlangli/Calabria/stage25.jpg
He was able to pull it of, but it was a close one. First victory for Saeco in their comeback season, did anyone say Champagne??

Visconti is now the leader of the race, but Ongarato have the same time. Our team is not to strong, so we will see tomorrow if we can defend the jersey.

nice first winSmile

Stage 3
i1090.photobucket.com/albums/i362/dlangli/Calabria/Stage1.jpg
Again some hills at the end, can we keep it together until the last hill for Visconti?

i1090.photobucket.com/albums/i362/dlangli/Calabria/stage32.jpg
On our way down from the penultimate climb, hunting the breakaway. 28 kilometers to go and 2 min.

i1090.photobucket.com/albums/i362/dlangli/Calabria/stage33.jpg
Marcato digging deep in the last hill, with the Captain himself on the wheel. Breakaway 1 min ahead with 15 k to go, can we catch the escapes?

i1090.photobucket.com/albums/i362/dlangli/Calabria/stage34.jpg
Breakaway caught. It ended up in a mass Sprint. Roelandts took it ahead of Cardoso. Visconti had a good position, but couldn´t quite follow and ended up in 4th. To much Champagne yesterday?

Before the last stage, Roelandts, Visconti and Ongarato got the same time, and over 60 riders following 20 sec behind. So it seems like whoever can take home the last stage will take home the whole race.

diasdagoberto
Thanks, always nice to kick off the season with an early win..!

diasdagoberto
Stage 4
i1090.photobucket.com/albums/i362/dlangli/Calabria/stage41.jpg
It`s an uphill finish. Our goal for the day will be to keep Visconti in the leading group until the last hill. And hopefully he can secure the GC by following the attacks.

i1090.photobucket.com/albums/i362/dlangli/Calabria/stage42.jpg
The morning breakaway got 12 min before the peloton reacted. Our team didnt want to take the whole responsibility because of the narrow GC lead, but at the end Lampre and Vacansolei joint us up front. Wonder who Lampre is betting on today, Petacchi? The finish look to tough for him, but we will find out soon enough...

i1090.photobucket.com/albums/i362/dlangli/Calabria/stage43.jpg
50 k to go, 30 Riders in the main group. Marcato crushed the peloton on the last hill, but now Visconti only have Marcato left to help him out. The good news is Roelandts gone, but unfortunately Ongarato is still in the group. Sagan is also in the group, maybe he is the most dangerous?

i1090.photobucket.com/albums/i362/dlangli/Calabria/stage44.jpg
Breakaway caught, 20 riders left before the last hill, Ongarato struggled on the last hill, and is on the tail.. Marcato is gone, so now Visconti is on his own...

i1090.photobucket.com/albums/i362/dlangli/Calabria/stage45.jpg
Petacchi!
Visconti is around 6th, will there be any time gaps?

i1090.photobucket.com/albums/i362/dlangli/Calabria/stage46.jpg
Well, Visconti lost some time, so its a 4th overall, so close... But it was after all a nice season opening

Visconti came out on top of the point ranking, good job. 4 Stages and the worst placing number 7. That´s mr. Consistency, very promising before the Coppa Costa degli Etruscha.

diasdagoberto
Coppa costa degla Etruschi
i1090.photobucket.com/albums/i362/dlangli/Calabria/Coppa/Coppa2-1.jpg
There are three quite long climbs at the end of the race. We will try to create a tough pace in the last one, to shake of as many competitors as possible. Hopefully Visconti will have the legs to outsprint whoever might be left in the end.

Our sponsors want a top 3 finish in this race. The squad will be the same as earlier this week in Calabria, with Visconti as the leader.

i1090.photobucket.com/albums/i362/dlangli/Calabria/Coppa/Coppa1.jpg
The breakaway got 7 minutes at the most before our team decided to take the lead it the peloton with 70 k to go.
From a quick look at the start list; Garzelli, Bertagnolli and Kroon seems like our biggest competitors, but its early February, so its hard to tell who´s best prepared for this race.

i1090.photobucket.com/albums/i362/dlangli/Calabria/Coppa/coppa3.jpg
In the last hill there were about 30 riders left. Visconti decided to set the pace himself as he was feeling strong.
A gap opened up, and on the top of the hill Visconti had about 1 minute to the pack, but he was still 2 minutes behind the last remnant from the breakaway; Tomasz Kiedys from CCC Polsat Polkowice.

i1090.photobucket.com/albums/i362/dlangli/Calabria/Coppa/coppa4.jpg
The chasing pack must have flown downhill, because after the descent they had almost caught Visconti.

i1090.photobucket.com/albums/i362/dlangli/Calabria/Coppa/coppa5.jpg
The Polish fellow were still alone with no signs of the peloton with 5 k to go. Will he be able to go all the way?

i1090.photobucket.com/albums/i362/dlangli/Calabria/Coppa/coppa6.jpg
Yes! That´s a big surprise, but what happens behind?

i1090.photobucket.com/albums/i362/dlangli/Calabria/Coppa/coppa7.jpg
Visconti was to tired in the sprint, and ends up in a disappointing 6th position.

Our sponsors will not be to happy with that result, as they expected a top 3 finish.

The results;
1) Tomasz Kiendys - CCC Polsat Polkowice.
2) Stefano Garzelli - Acqua & Sapone
3) Manuele Mori - Lampre-Farnese Vini
4) Alessandro Petacchi - Lampre-Farnese Vini
5) Franscesco Reda – Quick Step
6) Giovanni Visconti - Saeco

Thanks. The screenshots haven´t been to good so far.

After the disappointing last race, out next race will be in the south of Portugal;

i1090.photobucket.com/albums/i362/dlangli/Calabria/algarve/algarve0.png
4 stages in hilly terrain with a final 16 k Time-Trial on the last day.
Our team mainly focus on the Italian races, but this race will be a good preparation for the Giro de Sardegna next week.
Visconti has been doing some good work in the Tuscan hills the last weeks and his form is improving. He will be the leader for this race.
This is also a good opportunity to collect some good results and valuable points on the Continental tour, which is important in order to receive wild cards for the big Italian races.
Our team;
- Giovanni Visconti
- Ivan Santaromita
- Marco Marcato
- Adriano Angeloni
- Andrea Capelli
- Leonardo Moser

i1090.photobucket.com/albums/i362/dlangli/Calabria/algarve/algarve1.jpg
A stage for the Sprinters or a breakaway. Riders like Cavendish is racing here, so the competition seems to tough for Visconti.

i1090.photobucket.com/albums/i362/dlangli/Calabria/algarve/algarve2.jpg
As expected it ended up in a mass sprint, Visconti was already in a bad possition when the sprint started.

i1090.photobucket.com/albums/i362/dlangli/Calabria/algarve/algarve3.jpg
Cavendish took the very fast downhill sprint in front of Van Avermaet and Weylandt. Visconti number 16.

diasdagoberto
Stage 2
i1090.photobucket.com/albums/i362/dlangli/Calabria/algarve/algarvestage2.jpg
A tougher stage than the first one, but the last hill seems to far away from the finish, so I think it will end up in a mass sprint again, but hopefully the likes of Cavendish will be gone, so that Visconti get a good result in the sprint.

i1090.photobucket.com/albums/i362/dlangli/Calabria/algarve/algarve22.jpg
A breakaway with 7 riders got a 8 minute gap early in the stage. The break contained good riders like Daniel Martin and Alexander Efimkin.

i1090.photobucket.com/albums/i362/dlangli/Calabria/algarve/algarve23.jpg
In the long hill with 60 k to go Visconti got impatient and opened up a gap to the peloton.
But he couldn´t catch the breakaway riders, so he decided to wait for the peloton in the downhill. With 60 k to go the breakaway still had a 5 minute gap.

i1090.photobucket.com/albums/i362/dlangli/Calabria/algarve/algarve24.jpg
The peloton didn`t work well together today, and in the end Daniel Martin took the victory when he outsprintet Jeroume Baugnies. Efimkin came 3rd a few seconds behind.

i1090.photobucket.com/albums/i362/dlangli/Calabria/algarve/algarve25.jpg
In the main group Anton won the sprint for the 4th place, Visconti did a nice sprint, and ended up 5th in the stage ranking

Overall Visconti is now number 10, 1 minute and 29 seconds behind Martin.

diasdagoberto
Stage 3

i1090.photobucket.com/albums/i362/dlangli/Calabria/algarve/algarve31.jpg
Uphill finish. Visconti should save his energy for the last hill, which I think will be decisive for the GC.

i1090.photobucket.com/albums/i362/dlangli/Calabria/algarve/algarve42.jpg
Marcato felt strong this morning, and broke away early in the stage. 4 riders joined him and they were able to build up a solid lead.

i1090.photobucket.com/albums/i362/dlangli/Calabria/algarve/algarve43.jpg
30 k before the finish, the peloton were closing in on the break, and the favorites will fight for the stage victory.

i1090.photobucket.com/albums/i362/dlangli/Calabria/algarve/algarve44.jpg
Anton attacked with 3 k to go, Visconti tried to follow..

i1090.photobucket.com/albums/i362/dlangli/Calabria/algarve/algarve45.jpg
In the end Visconti could not catch Anton, but a strong 2nd place in the end!

In the GC Martin still holds the lead, Anton is number 2 and Visconti is in 3rd, 1 minute and 17 seconds behind.
