An interesting profile now for Stage 17, with a hilly run in to Nevada City.

After a day off, Belkov is back on his stage long attacks. Going from the start.

He of course takes the two early sprints. And in each Damian Martinez takes 2nd from Haidar Anuawar - Markov and Kinney missing out both times.

At the first KoM - that comes before a long descent - Belkov crosses first.

Gutierrez Palacios, Dupont and Brutt have all been dropped from the peloton by the time they take the top 5 minutes later, it is Yasmani Martinez who has attacked to take 2nd. Evidently Yeison Delgado feels he has a strong enough lead, at 25 points from Dupont

Belkov will also take the 2nd KoM, but his lead has been much reduced. 1'30 later Martinez again takes 2nd, the peloton coming soon after

Pellizotti is on the front as we close in on the final 10km, stretching the group

With 8km to go, 9th overall Ochoa Quintero is dropped but 7th overall Kunshin is also in trouble - and dropped too by 3.5km to go

Petrov takes 2nd, from Siutsou, and Kriyskiy. Yasmani Martinez, Mercado and Basso are also in this group.

Delgado and Nozal are caught in the 2nd group, losing 40 seconds - and Kritskiy moves ahead of Nozal into 5th in GC

Also here are Niemiec, Anton, Kilun, Ndbri, and Damian Martinez. Kunshin finishes 1'33 behind Pellizotti, and Ochoa Quintero at 2'48. Kunshin falls to 10th, Ochoa Quintero to 13th. Going the other way, Basso is up 4 to 8th. Niemiec is up 1 to 7th, and Kilun up 1 to 9th.
