After installing the PCMD 2011 Beta, I could play the game anymore. So after uninstalling it, I found out that I didn't have the installation files anymore. And last time I mailed Cyanide to get new links, it took weeks before I got them. So therefore I decided to download the files instead, and just use my serial to play the game. But of course the files I downloaded was from the CD-version.
So my question is, can someone email the PCM.exe and any other files from the download version? |

I have bought the game, I just don't want to wait for ages to get new download links. |

And why is it illegal? Whats the difference in someone sending me the files, and me waiting two weeks two download the from the official site? |

Well not to be captain obvious or anything, but a lot. Who knows if your telling the truth. 2 weeks isn't that long anyway. And how would the game stop working from the DB? It wouldn't mess up that badly.
But you have made PCM10 stages so I beleive you. I just dont feel safe giving you the files or anyone for that matter.

Honestly I can say there's a difference. And of course you cant know if telling the truth, but I can post my serial, with a few xxs in it.
After I installed the DB, I could see the new stages, but not play them. Either the game would crash when loading, or crash during the stages. My PCM folder was over 20 GBs, so maybe that has something to do with it.
I won't force anyone to send me the files, and if you don't want to, I completely understand. |

It crashed when loading or playing the stages? Did you try lowering your graphics?
Just put them all to 0 and if you can play, then slowly turn up the settings until you are satisfied with performance and quality.

Especially with the fact that it was quite easy until PCM2009.
Asking for new activations with PCM10 is nearly impossible. It took me 4 months before they knew who is responsible. My PC totally crashed and so the clean copy was gone
Luckily I had one left to continue. |

I can play the game with the highest settings, with out a problem. It worked just fine before I installed the beta.
And I have no idea why I deleted the installation files.
By the way, if I havent bought the game having the download exe doesnt do me any good. To my knowledge it is nearly impossible to bypass the serialcheck. |

I wouldn't mind giving you the file. I do not think it is illegal, because as far as I know I could resell the game for 1 cent and then hand over the files and the key. (Which would make it illegal for me to use the key any longer but not the action of giving the stuff to another person.)
But I have no clue how to give you 3GB other then by burning 7 CDs and sending them by post. |

I think it's just the pcm.exe which is different from the download version and CD version. Maybe CT knows something about that? |

I have the system and the game installed on two separate disks and I was not able to make the game run after I re-installed the system. I had to delete all previously installed files and then install again.
I am quite sure that:
- the pcm.exe is always the same because there are no separate patches for download and DVD version.
- you have to install the download-version properly to be able to enter the key. |

But there has to be some sort of small difference between the two. All the stages and such are the same in both versions.

No, it has not. The copy protection is done by the protection.exe (or similar). My guess it that the installation process writes something to the registry to determine how to handle the copy protection.
You could try to start the protection program and uninstall the protection. Then download the latest protection software from www.starforce.com and install that. Now you should (or better could) be prompted to enter you key when you start the game.
Edit: Do you really thought that it would be that easy to fool one of the best copy protections by just replacing one file?

Thanks, will try that!
I'm not talking about fooling the protection, but as you say changing it from disc check to serialcheck. |

Thinking about it, you might need to erase all traces of the game from the registry after you uninstalled the protection. Search for cyanide in the registry.
BTW: I think there was a patch which accidentally did what you're trying to do, so your last hope could be to install all patches starting from the oldest and try after each update.
Hint: You better contact pcm2010_de(at)nexway.com (you might replace the de as it stands for german) and ask for a new link while trying all the above

Obviously they changed their attitude now.
When I asked for it in Octobre they didn`t now who is responsible for this kind of stuff.
There I was linked between Nexway and Cyanide Support for several times although I told them that I was linked to nearly all of their emails.
But good to know that it`s working now. |
