Stage 9 is the last in this long run of flat stages. It takes us to Indianapolis and being fairly short, must be an ideal chance for D'Amore or Haidar Anuawar to finally deliver.

You have to wonder why Damian Martinez never bothers trying at the finish, always so consistent in the primes. We wont see him again today either, he and Markov stupidly get themselves dropped

And with Markov gone, Tinkoff are actually doing a lead out! It is Kunshin for Kritskiy

Are we sure Kunshin is a Tinkoff rider? He has chased down Petrov on the hilly stage, lead out Yasmani Martinez to beat Kritskiy, charged past to deny team leader Petrov the full 20 bonus seconds for a win, and now refuses to sprint as a lead out for Kritskiy - you can see why Tinkoff havent bothered with a leadout option in the past. So here comes Pellizotti into the lead

But that Red Bull rider behind him is Haidar Anuawar! The Malaysian makes his move, and could finally be giving Red Bull a stage win

The profile appears to have lied though. It looked flat, but there is a 2% gradient. Too much for Haidar? Pellizotti is fighting back!

And Franco Pellizotti comes through to win his 3rd stage! Haidar Anuawar must settle for 2nd - despite the perfect positioning he had - while Kunshin still refuses to get out of Kritskiy's way, thus taking 3rd
