The stage finish is in Hagerstown, but we do head into Washington DC first. And unlike Stage 2, theres a few hills on offer today aswell, albeit small

In the DC sprint, Haidar Anuawar wins from Kinney and Dupont

But as with Stage 2, Haidar Anuawar cant match Martinez further into the stage - at sprint 2.

He does it again at Sprint 3. Kritskiy takes 3rd here - wearing Green as Markov cannot wear 2 jerseys.

Into the hilly section with 50km to go, and whats this? Bertogliati is moving away from the peloton, with Pellizotti in tow

With the gap up to a minute, Pellizotti takes over. Bertogliati is dropped and falls back to the peloton, Pellizotti extends his lead solo - and crests the KoM in first

Gutierrez Palacios and Brutt are joint KoM leaders, and the Spaniard takes 2nd to take over the jersey outright. The gap to Pellizotti is 2 minutes!

We all knew Pellizotti was favourite for this race, but this is remarkable. 23km to go, he now leads by 3 minutes!

The Italian's lead peaks at 3 and a half minutes but does start to come down. Ironically, behind, the sprint trains are finally working. Dempster leading D'Amore, Markov, Haidar Anuawar and Yasmani Martinez (not the Quiksilver Martinez who goes for the sprints!) Bertogliati also here, and for once, a teammate follows him - Ochoa Quintero

Franco Pellizotti wins the stage, and he takes the race lead - is he now going to hold it all the way?

Markov wins the sprint for 2nd, the gap to Pellizotti having been reduced to 1'48. Yasmani Martinez takes 3rd - D'Amore and Haidar Anuawar both still struggle to get anything in the sprint
