Welcome to the GP Plouay, this is possibly the biggest C1 race on the calender and we have 13 teams most of whom have a shot at winning. Favourites are Ginanni, Efimkin and Ponzi but Monfort, Kolobnev, Roux and Calzati will challenge them
There is a strong wind today, as such it will be harder to chase the break, Milka and Vespa are active at the front making sure no big group gets away
Milka eventually decide it's easier just to put a man in the break themselves as 11 riders are allowed an advantage: Frishkorn, Howard, Van Aelbroeck, Matzbacher, Vielleux, Krasnoperov, Pinot, Lagutin, Thill, Locatelli and Marycz
however as 10 more riders attack all are back together
Barrio manages to get clear, and the peleton decides to settle down
125km to go, a bit early for some, however Pavarin, Zaini, Pasamontes and Mandri decide to try their luck
10km later, as their gap gets up to 3 minutes, Lloyd goes alone
The four catch our leader with 100km to go, they have 6 minutes on the peleton, but as they are all solid riders this could be a very dangerous move
Vespa and Milka are alert and start moving forwards
70km to go and they have pulled the gap down to 4 minutes, Lloyd is hovering in no mans land between the two group, his move really hasn't paid off today
60km to go, Konovalovas attacks, the gap is now down to 3'26" Monfort and Nocentini follow this move
Only Konovalovas gets clear, but he makes it up to Lloyd, 30 seconds in front of the peleton
Lloyd is left behind
and it's game over for him
Up front Mandri is dissapearing into the distance, however 40km solo against a peleton 2'39" behind, I don't fancy his chances
Mandri may be thinking the same thing as on the downhill he allows the others to come back to him
Barrio cracks and the break is down to four
32km to go, the peleton hasn't made an imression on the lead, it's still at 2'35". Ponzi decides to go for it, does this mean Pavarin is struggling up front?
Ponzi can't get clear on the decent, his increase in pace pulls Konovalovas back
One lap, 26km to go and the breakaway is 2'09" ahead. This could have been an excellent move
Pavarin is definately suffering as Nocentini is giving it his all to pull this back
Onto the penultimate climb and as Barrio is caught Albasini explodes into action
This may be it as Konovalovas, Monfort and Ponzi spring into action
Albasini flies clear, Calzati and Konovalovas are off the front, the others are back in the peleton
Cherel catches the El Al duo, pulling Kolobnev, Ponzi and Efimkin with him
Mandri and Pavarin have cracked
15km to go and it's between Zaini and Pasamontes
The four have flown past El Al and catch Albasini, they are a minute behind the leaders with 14km to go
Roux joins them as the race concertinas
10km left and Pavarin and Mandri are pulled back, 23" seconds is the lead
Albasini alnost closes the gap, when Cherel attacks, Ponzi following
Cherel doesn't get anywhere, Ponzi and Albasini try and get clear, at the back of this group Ginanni has jumped on to it
As we crest the final climb Albasini has to watch as Ponzi pulls clear, then Efimkin and Kolobnev move past
Now Ponzi runs out of energy
5km to go, Ponzi trying desperately yo get up the thee front two
3km to go and he's given up, a Russian is going to win today
Efimkin kicks off the sprint with a small gap, Kolobnev is going to need to pull out something special here
Efimkin is strongest today, he wins the sprint comfortably, Kolobnev will have to be satisfied with 2nd
Ponzi instigated the winning move but didn't have the strength to carry it through, 3rd will have to do for him
UBS do well out of this race with Roux taking 4th and Albasini 5th
Ginanni finished very fast, although missing the early move cost him a big result, he gets 6th in front of Monfort and Delage
Cherel solo's into 9th
Pendelton's get 10th as well as Moletta sprints past the best of the break, Zaini just out sprinting Pasamontes
Chavanel leads in the peleton, El Al had 4 of the top 5 riders in the bunch
Today belongs to Milka who keep alive hopes of promotion with Efimkins victory
