Welcome to Spain for this mountainous classic, Urkiola Igoera. The best climbers in the Continental tour are here, so expect top notch racing, Ricco, Pellizotti and Allarcon are probably the three strongest, however, Kohl, CT leader Taaramae and home favourite Lopez Garcia will be looking to play spoiler

This is a fairly short race for HC points, as such the break has a decent chance and so must be watched.

Again and again 10-20 riders try and go up the road, however the peleton isn't having any of it
i1184.photobucket.com/albums/z334/mb1226/urk/PCM0030.jpg

Ten riders eventually get clear: Sagan, Munoz Giraldo, Remme, Vorontsov, Tizza, Betancourt, Shpilevski, Sabido, Costa and Curfs, Gourov would later join them
i1184.photobucket.com/albums/z334/mb1226/urk/PCM0031.jpg

Up the first climb Delgado is first to attack, Samwel and Ndbri follow
i1184.photobucket.com/albums/z334/mb1226/urk/PCM0032.jpg

Only Delgado gets clear, but teammate and Spanish champion Mercado tries to follow him
i1184.photobucket.com/albums/z334/mb1226/urk/PCM0033.jpg

The two don't work together, yet they close on the break as they reach the top
i1184.photobucket.com/albums/z334/mb1226/urk/PCM0034.jpg

On the flat Pellizotti decides to go for it
i1184.photobucket.com/albums/z334/mb1226/urk/PCM0035.jpg

This causes Delgado to be pulled back
i1184.photobucket.com/albums/z334/mb1226/urk/PCM0036.jpg

As Pellizotti catches Mercado
i1184.photobucket.com/albums/z334/mb1226/urk/PCM0037.jpg

The pair catch the breakaway, and are now 50 seconds ahead of the peleton
i1184.photobucket.com/albums/z334/mb1226/urk/PCM0038.jpg

The peleton close in, but the break are just about to hit the climb
i1184.photobucket.com/albums/z334/mb1226/urk/PCM0039.jpg

No one wants to burn out, so the peleton wait and as Pellizotti leads under 5km to go the break are about to be pulled back
i1184.photobucket.com/albums/z334/mb1226/urk/PCM0040.jpg

Ricco scythes past them as he tries to use the confusion to his advantage
i1184.photobucket.com/albums/z334/mb1226/urk/PCM0041.jpg

Samwel is the only one who follows
i1184.photobucket.com/albums/z334/mb1226/urk/PCM0042.jpg

3km to go and as Anton pulls Samwel back, Carrara attacks
i1184.photobucket.com/albums/z334/mb1226/urk/PCM0043.jpg

He doesn't get far, but there goes Taaramae, followed by Kohl and Kirchen
i1184.photobucket.com/albums/z334/mb1226/urk/PCM0044.jpg

Now Alarcon and Lopez Garcia
i1184.photobucket.com/albums/z334/mb1226/urk/PCM0045.jpg

Taaramae closes on Ricco
i1184.photobucket.com/albums/z334/mb1226/urk/PCM0046.jpg

He starts to sprint
i1184.photobucket.com/albums/z334/mb1226/urk/PCM0047.jpg

Now Alarcon is flying as well, he moves past Kohl
i1184.photobucket.com/albums/z334/mb1226/urk/PCM0048.jpg

Ricco holds on for victory
i1184.photobucket.com/albums/z334/mb1226/urk/PCM0049.jpg

Ikea get 2 on the podium, Taaramae leading in Alarcon, Kohl and Lopez Garcia are next
i1184.photobucket.com/albums/z334/mb1226/urk/PCM0050.jpg

The sprint for 6th goes to Anton ahead of Cobo, Perez Sanchez, Evans and Kessiakoff round out the top ten
