Now it's time to go to Sweeden for the Scandinavian Race Upsalla. All the Continental tours top sprinters are here, so expect a big finish, although I get the feeling that the breakaway is going to be a futile exercise. Anyway the big favourites are Ciolek, Cavendish and Napolitano, although counting out Goss, Van Heerden, Greipel or Hushovd is a dangerous thing to do.
The crowds are out in force to cheer the 6 man break: Gudsell, Sabatini, Cruz, Valinin, Gajek and Ascani
The break hit the line with 93km to go and the gap at 9 minutes, this isn't a high speed circuit so the peleton need to get their act together soon
Lego decide that the move needs to be pulled back
50km to go , and the breaks lead touches 4 minutes, some riders decide the time is ripe for an attack: Thomas, Oostagard, Bodrogi, De Gendt and Engoulvent
The attackers get a minute gap and the peleton are happy to let them dangle there for a while
23km to go and Unicredit make the catch, the break still has a 1'20" lead
Some teams definately are not interested in the sprint, as Albert attacking bringing, Roche, Rooijakkers, Selander and Scanlon with him
They don't get far
15km to go and only Cruz is still in front of the peleton, Terpstra puts in a cheeky dig
He goes into the lead, Verbist and Rooijakkers follow
10km to ride, Terpstra is being dropped, while the peleton is still within 50 seconds, although the winding roads makeit seem further
Terpstra rejoins the front group, 8km to go and the gap is 42 seconds
Soon enough it's all over
Mercedes are best placed, With Cavendish on Haedo's wheel followed by Chicci, Goss, Van Heerden and Hochmann, while Milka have 2 lead out men for Hushovd
5km to go and the attacks never cease, Ericsson now spurring on Vaitkus, Vanspeybrouck and Rooijakkers (again)
As the sprint starts the attackers have a small advantage, and Vaitkus is a strong sprinter, I doubt he can hang on though
Baumann pulls Haedo clear of the pack, although Vaitkus is still strong
800m to go and Haedo pulls out, Hushovd is pounding up the middle
Vaitkus is not going to be caught, although with both TDF commentator Smowz and UCI supremo SN predicting this result to perfection I can't really say it was a surprise
Haedo and Hushovd get second and third, excellent results for them as they push for promotion
4th onwards is pretty much a phot o finish, Cavendish sneaking past Vanspeybrouck on the line, followed by Borrajo, Baumann, Ciolek, Casper and Gavazzi.
