Brixia Tour - Stage 1

The race kicks off with a hilly stage, but all eyes will be on tomorrow's mountain stage.

A break of 16 goes clear - including such names as Vandoussellaere, Keukeleire, Vicelich, Mosciarello and Kwiatkowski. Its gets caught though - and more are away by the first sprint of the race. Kiprotich active once again, along with Kuperasov, Goodfellow, Nygren, Haller, Cabrera Gonzalez and O'Neill.

Cabrera Gonzalez, Nygren and Goodfellow are clear of the other 4 when we do get to the sprint, and cross it in that order.

The 7 come together though and with their lead at 4 minutes, Bravo and Lechuga attack the peloton. We're onto the long climb of the day though, and eager for the KoM points, Goodfollow beats Nygren for it

Bravo and Lechuga have been caught by the way, as Goodfellow continues his winning streak at the next sprint

And some attacks from the peloton over the top: Sgrigna, Tiffany and Vandoussellaere

Only Sgrigna can keep ahead onto the final climb though as the break starts to be caught, more attacks also with Costa, Khalilikhosroshani, Land, Gmelich, Van Epoel, Roe

Cabrera Gonzalez has ridden away from Kiprotich and crosses the summit first to take the KoM jersey. Sgrigna is 3rd ahead of Landa and just still clear of the pack

Vandoussellaere emerges over the top, Guardiola Tora and Moscariello follow him and they reach Kiprotich.

Cabrera Gonzalez still leads though as Kiprotich is forced to lead out

He has the speed, but not quite the distance, Cabrera Gonzalez holds on to win.

Vandoussellaere 2nd from Guardiola Tora and Moscariello, while van der Sanden sprints out from the peloton to pass Kiprotich, take 5th, and ensure there is no time gap
