DH: Stage 13 into Mende, a lot of anticipation that we could see some action today.
DH: It is a medium hilly day with a number of categorised climbs and a nasty uphill finish into Mende.
SM: It is a very difficult one to predict, a sprinter with enough punch like Boonan could make it.
DH: But with it being so close on GC any bonification could take Spilak into yellow, Uran is going to have to be at his best.
Kg: The three categorised climbs are the 3rd cat Noniers at 64km, 2nd cat Pranlet at 106km and 3rd cat Montivert.
DH: Here is a round-up of the action so far then, first we had another breakaway of three riders. Renang tries again for Sony, Caethoven (Carmuese) and Didier (Bbox).
Renang takes the first sprint of the day
Sm: The wild card teams are having a tough time making headway, Bbox though were pretty active in breakaways in the first week.
DH: Didier went over the 3rd cat climb in first place.
KOM 1: Didier - > Caethoven - > Renang
DH: Christophe Le Mevel sprinted out the peleton to take the last point on offer.
Le Mevel takes last point
DH: On the more difficult climb the Pranlet, Sony found their rider struggling again as Renang was dropped.
Renang distanced on the Pranet
DH: Vesuvio had their domestiques on the front once again, Dimitri Medvedev the man for the climb.
Super domestique Medvedev there for his team again
DH; More cheer for Bbox as Didier takes the full points at the Pranlet
Didier takes the Pranlet crest first
Kg: This moved Dider up to 20 KOM points, Caethoven 2nd moves to 12, Renang 3rd to move to 10 points, then Van den Hugenhaben (19), Le Mevel (27) and Hacecky (33). All small change really compared to the leading trio Uran (58), Contador (58) and Kacheshkin (51).
DH: Behind it became clear which teams were confident of making hay in the finale as Wikipedia and Warner Brothers came to the front. With 80km to go the gap was down to 5.20 to our leading duo.
Wikipedia and Warner Brothers chase
DH: Wikipedia obviously feel Phinney is back on top form, it was pretty clear he was suffering in the Alps.
Sm: He is been involved in the sprints at the stage races he has won this year Daniel, that crash has set him back. Warner Brothers seem to be looking for something for Spilak - I think they need to use every oppurtunity to get the Slovenian as far ahead of Dekker as possible.
DH: Caethoven took the last categorised climb ahead of Didier.
Caethoven perhaps surprisingly nabs the last over Didier
Kg: Van den Hugenhaben took third and Le Mevel fourth we will see if they can compete with the big guns in the Pyrenees.
DH: The peleton were really motoring an caught the break with 37km to go.
No breakaway win today
DH: We join it again now in the last 10 kiometers as we race towards the airstrip at Mende, it is really stretched.
Sm: Yes, Dan the peleton are looking to make it as hard as possible to eliminate the sprinters.
DH: Carmeuse fans lookaway now, as the peleton splits Popovich is in the second group AGAIN!
Popovich is missing out in split again
Kg: He is not the only one, according to race radio, Contador, Schleck and Kasheshkin are in this second group as well.
Sm: Wow, that to me is careless. It will be tricky to get back on now.
DH: With 4,200m to go then and we can see B and O on the right trying to set it up for Pluchkin through Niko Keinath.
Former Maglia Rosa setting up his teammate
DH: Also Soony are there seemingly Granjel Cabrera is trying to set Mori up and also you can see the pink jersey of Gazzeta it is Marinangeli again setting up Bennati.
Sm: Behind I can see Taaramae dragging the second group up to the front group
Taaramae neutralises the split
DH: Looks like Fothen and Henao were back there too, oh well all back together now.
Sm: But they have missed their chance of bonuses.
DH: Back to the front, the B and O train seems to be failing and Sony are coming to the front. The steep climb is about to start though.
Sony come to the front on the bottom of the 2km climb
DH: Uran is there, Coppel is on Bennati's wheel with Dekker, Flugel and Spilak also in the hunt.
Sm: Dekker and Spilak are there again, as is Uran this is going to be interesting.
DH: The climb bites but the Sony duo are holing strong, here comes Uran though.
Uran begins to move up in the first 500m of the climb
Sm: It is Rolland in the left, ahead of Pluchkin.
DH: Yes, Pluchkin is moving back up here but it is still Granjel Cabrera under the flamme rouge, Mori though is fading. Uran is up to second, but Dekker and Spilak are reacting.
Under flamme rouge Uran, Dekker and Spilak are battling
DH: Dekker is bursting through, he started the day 22 seconds back but Spilak the man one second back is on his wheel.
Thomas Dekker bursts through
DH: 500m to go and Dekker is looking good for the win here... Uran and Spilak are side by side in 2nd place.
Dekker is showing a turn of speed, Spilak could be taking yellow though
DH: 300m to Uran is beginning to fade slightly and the yellow jersey that he won in Rousses is slipping away.
Spilak slips past Uran
DH: Pluchkin and Phinney are coming at Uran as well. But it is Thomas Dekker who takes a fine win for Philips.
Dekker takes it to open his stage win account
DH: Behind Spilak takes 2nd and he will now take over the yellow jersey, Uran is slumped across his handlebars he couldn't have done anymore.
Kg: Pluchkin took 3rd with Phinney 4th.
Uran finishes 5th and sees the Yellow disappear
Sm: A dramatic climb up to Mende, I was jumping around but I do not know why. Uran can hold his head up high, he went just a bit too early though. Dekker and Spilak are developing quite a rivalry here, but still so much to play for in the Pyrenees.
DH: Yes just 13 seconds cover the top 3, with Andy Schleck now at 50 seconds.
