Welcome to the first stage of the man game ever in the channel islands, and this 7km time trial promises drama as Ignatiev comes up against the best Britain can throw at him, on their own turf. His main rival today is former teammate Stannard, however Miller and Wiggins are also names to watch out for

The wind is howling today, that may put some riders off their game, now lets join the action

In an innovative stategy Wiggle send out Ignatiev as the second rider of the day, he sets a time of 9'31", although as this was into a slight headwind, any variation in the breeze will help the later riders

De Gendt loses 10 seconds to Ignatiev to slot in second for now

We aalso need to keep an eye out for sprinters today, the 60 bonus seconds over the next 3 stages will give most of them a shot at the overall victory, here Bozic, whos 43 second loss will probably put him too far back

Kip is not known as anything other than a sprinter and he loses 31 seconds, after him is Clarke who loses 39", these 3 will need to dominate the sprints if they want a shot at victory this year

now back to the time trial speciallists and Millar pushes hard, only to fall 6 seconds short

Stannard is probably Ignatiev's biggest rival here, and he is fired up today. It's going to be close

Stannard does it, 3 seconds faster than the unbeatable man

Dall'Antonia is probably Milka's leader here, and he will be satisfied with +23"

Cavendish sets off now, it will be interestng to see how much effort 100% Me put into the sprints if they have the lead already, +31" is a respectable return for him

Wiggins is the last rider off of any imprtance, and Pendletons will be looking for a big move by him today after Millar fell short, and the wind has dropped slightly which may help him.

There is just 1 second in it as they cross the line, but Wiggins has fallen just short. Stannard takes the stage and the lead
