Sachsen Tour International - Stage 1

We move to Germany and a Stage race notable in this U23 division as the only one with a time trial - which will decide this race alongside a couple of hilly stages. But first, something flat!

Lots of early aggression, coming into the first sprint we have 4 riders going clear of another 11 - and Kuperasov takes the sprint from Van der Ent and Da Luz. By the close by KoM though its a group of 16 with a small lead - containing some of those first 15 attackers, and some newcomers. One of those newcomers is Vesuvio's Milioni, who just beats Gauer to take the first KoM jersey of the race.

6 teams help to chase down this 16 man group, but are happier to allow a new selection of 9 to form the BotD. Afif, Gauer, Tommersen, Jungels, Rudling, Tatarinov, Haag, van der Ent and Corwin. Over in the continental tour, Tareq Esmaeli recently took a first ever Man-Game win for Qatar, and here his fellow countryman Afif is also winning ... a bunch sprint. (Ahead of Tommersen and Gauer). The youngest rider in the game, Gauer finally wins a prime in the final sprint of the day, Afif down in 3rd here with Rudling inbetween.

Jungels, Rudling and Afif are last to be caught with 10km to go, and we're soon into sprint train territory. Not for the first time in sprint trains, Pokerstars are to the fore - surprisingly not for Vandousselaere though. Instead, it's Jospeh leading Wagemans, with Hunt, Keukeleire, Prestia and Pantano Gomez in tow. Rivaling them are Jack Wolfskin with Bezemer for Van der Sanden. Drapac follows, along with Denaturaev, and Bar - and soon after this picture, Holt and Ajpacaja too.

Bezemer does the best of the two leadouts though, and Van der Sanden looks to capitalise - although going fairly early 2km out

Damian Drapac is perfectly placed, and with one of the best sprint kicks in this division, it's no surprise that when he pounced today, there was no match for him. Victory to Red Bull!

ElAl's Bar comes through for 2nd, past a fading Van der Sanden - while Hunt does best of those in the Pokerstars train.
