The last stage is a short dash into Vienna with 4 circuits around the city centre with sprint points at the end of the first three and the finish on the final one.
In theory then Serpa could grab back the leaders jersey from Perez Sanchez who won it in dramatic fashion in yesterdays time trial. However there is just one point between the contenders in the points competition Trusov and Napolitano and they will be eager for points rather than time on these sprints.
Only one rider breaking away does not decrease the complications, neither does the weather conditions it is a windy one.
Rafa Valls seems to have good legs in Austria
I could harp on again at the disappointing race that Santander have had but they will look forward and know through Cobo, Lopez Garcia and Abal will have more points scoring chances this year. They could start putting things right with a Galdos stage win or perhaps a breakaway win for Valls?
He takes the first three sprints ahead of first...
2nd: Richeze and 3rd: Napolitano
The Italian becomes new points leader... next sprint.
2nd Richeze and 3rd Galdos
Richeze is still 26 points behind Napolitano, Galdos 37 points behind the points leader. Last sprint...
2nd Trusov and 3rd Kirk (Youtube)!
Trusov retakes the sprint lead as the other sprinters prepare for final dash, meanwhile some big drama at the back of the peleton as a sulking Serpa has been riding towards the back and a gap opens up. Pirelli go back to try and pull their leader back up to the peleton, 52 seconds would see Serpa move down a place and 1.20 would see him off the podium.
The whole Pirelli squad go back to try and shut down the gap
They look briefly like they will pull it back before the gap opens up again, but they keep working to save Serpas GC position.
Up front Valls may just make it as he has 80 seconds on the peleton with 9km to go.
Valls may just rescue Santanders tour here
It does close but fairly slowly over the next five or so kilomotres even so the sprinters can see Valls down the road.
Gap is visable, don't look round Rafa
Unicredits even opportunistic Napolitano looks hungry as he heads the pack behind and Youtube's much maligned (by me anyway) sprinter McCallum holds his wheel. Trusov and most of the other sprinters are nowhere!
Unicredits Italian can see the line
Time seems to go in slow motion as all but the diehard Unicredit fans will Valls on but to no avail in the last 200 metres he is about to get caught.
Valls snaffled back by Napolitano
The Italian is really dangerous if he gets a sniff of a win and he has hounded out his third stage win of the race.
You have to give the Italian credit - he will take the points jersey too
McCallum takes second with Valls third ahead of Serov and Abal.
Serpa's group is timed at one minute exactly behind the peleton, the Columbian tumbles down to 3rd place and cuts a forlorn figure on the podium. But good news for Benfica and congratulations go to UBS with two stage wins and the overall.
