The new U23 Division kicks off its 5-round July schedule in Belgium, with the GP Stad Zottegem. You would expect it to favour the sprinters, but there are a few small, but occasionally steep, hills littered around the profile - just to keep things interesting

Domina's Haller was the first to attack, and he made it into the 10-man break of the day. Also there are Juul-Jensen (UBS), Che Samsudin (Falcon), Dronin (Cillit), Nystrand (Sony Ericsson), Toporischev (Tinkoff), Brown (Wikipedia), Jungels (Vesuvio), Green (YouTube) and Gilannipoor (Mercedes)

We have three teams controlling the pace in the peloton. Theres Festina - for sprinter Keukeleire, Pokerstars - for Vandousselaere, and El Al - for Bar.

With 50km to go, the break of 10 holds a 3 minute lead - so are well within chasing distance. Some more attacks come from the peloton now though: Van der Ent (Wolfskin), King (Wikipedia), Cronshaw (Pendletons), Tieri (Bacardi), and Alazzawi (Mercedes)

They are chased down though and by 30km to go its time for a new attack - the gap to the break is now 10 minutes - and Alazzawi is going again, this time following Battaglin (Bacardi) and Kiprotich (Pendletons)

We soon have further attacks with Gauer (Yamaha), Cabrera Gonzalez (Cillit), Roduit (UBS) and Nygren (Sony)

The strongest moves are from Nygren, Battaglin, Gauer and Cabrera Gonzalez - as the break comes into view for them

But as we go up the penultimate small hill of the day, with 16km to go, some of the break have seen them coming. Dronin, Gilannipoor and Nystrand have attacked into the lead

Gilannipoor presses on and briefly is alone, but Nystrand gets back up to him

Dronin is still fairly close, but Juul-Jensen, Battaglin, Jungels, Che Samsudin, Haller, Green, Brown, Gauer, and Toporischev are now a minute back - and suddenly, it looks unlikely that the peloton will catch them!

And with just over 3km to go, on the final climb, theyve pulled away from Dronin - so this race is coming down to 2 - Nystrand vs Gilanipoor

The Swede is a slightly stronger sprinter, but being forced to lead out - so he tries to take Gilanipoor by surprise

The chasers have caught Dronin, and are barely remaining ahead of the peloton, in which we have some leadouts: Bodiot for Bar, Drapac for Williamson, O'Shea for Kwiatkowski, Kuperasov for Tatarinov, and Joseph for Vandousselaere

Gilanipoor looks to have the match of Nystrand here, but he is waiting as long as possible to move - that is, if he is able to

And with just a few hundred metres left, Gilanipoor does bounce - and its a great win for the Iranian!

8 of the 10 chasers are able to hold off the sprinters from the peloton, and it is Falcon's Malaysian Che Samsudin who takes 3rd, ahead of Brown, Juul-Jensen and Toporishchev

Vandouesselaere comes out best of the sprinters in the pack, taking 11th place from Bar, Engelen, Kwiatkowski and Williamson.
