Abergavenny Crit and Air Force Cycling Classic discussion thread
Smowz
Lovers of watching riders battle against obtuse gradients look away now, it is time for the two flat July classics.

Abergavenny Criterian

The first in Wales is part of the Wales week of cycling fun. The hilly GP of Wales will probably provoke more discussion but it carries the same points as the tight criterian course in Abergavenny.

There are twelve five klick circuits - the weather forecast is the usual for this part of the world... Wet 'n' Wild. Your startlist, well take a look at 100% Me.

JJ Haedo is the defending champ though and there aree plenty of sprinters here such as Mohs, Van Heerden, Ciolek, ... well you can read the first name off of the team sheets all the way down! Finally, Telenor have come to their senses and have disallowed Greame Brown from taking the leaders role!

Air Force Cycling Classic

Mercedes have a team goal to win the Washington DC/Arlington based Air Force Cycling Classic. On first inspection would seem a similar affair.

It is actually five circuits of nearly 20km, your startlist is of course dominated by sprinters.

A lot of the top class sprinters are doubling up here such as Mohs, Van Heerden, Caspar, Haedo, Ciolek, Crocket. Greame Brown is here again as well.

Spints are expected but as we saw in South Africa and Holland earlier in the season they do not always materialise!

Schedule:
I am looking to post the abergavenny result up tomorrow evening. The Air Force Cycling Classic will be up a day or two after the GP of Wales

You can't find anything flatter than Air Force Cycling Classic... If Brown lets me down once again he'll end his days hanging from a tree, then he can cry about being afraid of heights (also known as hills and mountains) :-p

I see too many sprinters in my team and no capable lead-out men...short lenght could give a good opportunity to Guillén to shine once more though

I have no hope for a good result at the USAF Cycling Classic. At least I can go in watch in person though...

Beautiful unexpected win. Smile Well done Jimmy. Smile

I could have said that Vaitkus was a genius, if he didn't fail... 15th and 20th, sucky. (Brown sucked ofc, no need to say that really)

why to bother with sprint, when it´s Christmas time - time of peace and relax Grin

GP of Wales went up last night and I will look to post the Air Force Cycling Classic up tonight.

The weather forecast in Arlington is windy - let the chaos resume!

Pleased and a bit miffed with that result too. Wish Vespa could have got a slightly stronger rider in the break. Still good effort from the young 'un.
