This year's Tour de Suisse will start with a 9 km prologue in Lausane. The route is very demanding though with a very steep climb in the first half. On paper, Michael Rogers is the big favorite to take the first yellow jersey of the race, but others such as Cancellara and Phinney shouldn't be underestimated
Fabio Duarte was the first starter of the day and he came with quite a decent time of 12 minutes and 8 seconds
He enjoyed the leader's place for a few minutes but not for too long, Schadlich finishing the prologue 2 seconds faster than him
Perez Sanchez had a decent start, losing 3 seconds to Schadlich, but he should be at the top in the mountain stage
Amador had a great ride and after destroying Schadlich's time at the intermediate chech, at the top of the climb, he took the lead from the German for 4 seconds
The climb proved to be just too much for Kittel today, the German being 7 seconds slower than Amador at the finish
The Belgian Champion, Cornu, couldn't find his pace either, finishing 5 seconds behind the Starbucks rider
Schumacher, on the other hand, had an amazing time at the top of the climb and after a strong descent, he managed to take the lead, 9 seconds faster than Amador
Devolder had a good start, finishing 10 seconds behind Schumacher, but only one behind Amador
The Pro Tour leaders, Sony Ericsson, have brought Marzano to lead them here, but he will need a way better result in the La Punt stage, as today he lost 24 seconds to Schumacher
Brajkovic had a great ride and he was very close to put Schumacher's place in danger, but even though he was second he finished 6 seconds behind the German
Rogers didn't have the best time at the top of the climb, but a very good descent brought him the provisional second place. Still he finished 5 seconds behind Schumacher, which made the UBS rider the big favorite to take the yellow jersey at the end of the day
Lafarge are struggling this season and there's a good chance that they will not continue in the Pro Tour next year. Menchov is doing his best to avoid that but he finished 19 seconds behind Schumacher
Castano is Festina's leader here and after a very good Giro, he is still in top shape, finishing 11 seconds behind the current leader
The Swiss Champion shirt didn't help Cancellara too much as he finished with a rather disappointing time, 8 seconds behind Schumacher
Uran lost 11 seconds to the German rider today, but the Colombian is definitely looking forward to the mountain stage and the longer time - trial
Keizer had a very poor time at the top of the climb and the one at the finish wasn't any better, finishing 15 seconds behind the leader
Pluchkin had a very good time at the top of the climb, almost as good as Schumacher's and the Moldavian rider was only 1 second away from taking the lead at the finish
Kashechkin is Lipton's main hope for this race and he had a decent start, 10 seconds slower than Schumacher but with the promise of doing a better job in the mountain stage
Phinney was the last rider that could have stopped Schumacher bringing an amazing results for UBS, who are riding here only as wildcards. And after not a great time at the top of the climb, the American had an amazing descent and he beat Schumacher's time with 2 seconds, becoming the first leader of the race
