Wikipedia for anyone that needs it:
Anyway, this Tournament is held around late December (starts 26th and ends January 5th), and its where all the up and coming stars play. All the NHL scouts come out to watch players they might want to get in the draft, so this is a very important tournament for hockey fans. Name an NHL superstar and I bet you he played in this tournament at one point.
Now to this years tournament ( I expect not too many people will post in here, so we can just re-use this thread each year, probably)
Here's how the groups look. https://www.buffaloworldjuniors.com/ad...asp?pID=56
Maybe we can have guesses on who will win and stuff like that. Personally I see Russia, USA or Sweden winning this year, as Canada's team is not as skilled as most other years. They could still make it to the finals though.

Germany is playing in the tournament.
And Canada just beat Sweden in an exhibition match 4-1. |

Why Czechs? My hockey coach bought my whole team tickets to the U17 Hockey Challenge Gold Medal Game at the MTS Centre, cause he's rich. The tournament is being held in Manitoba so MTS Iceplex, MTS Centre and a few other venues.
So yeah no big deal.

The U17 gold medal game was awesome! Walking to the game through the mall befoe the game we saw players from the Czech team and got their autographs and then went to the best game ever! The attendence record for all U17 finals was broken here and we left with a win.

Hmm the game against Russia (sweden) was not good after a bad start 0-2 against us we managed to turn it to lead with 3-2 but with 1 ½ min left Russia did 3-3 and then won after the shootout. How the f*uck can a semifinal in a WC decided on shootout, more luck then anything else. Kind of disappointed if you haven´t noticed... |

Yeah the shootout has always been more of a popularity thing than anything else, but Ill admit its nice to see Sweden lose.

In the "real" WC they play overtime until one team score and then it´s over, or am I wrong?
So why don´t do like that in the JWC?
Ofcourse you are happy Sweden lost because you know Sweden would be harder to win against then Russia in the final |

Well Russia looked out of it in the first two periods but they scored five unanswered in the third period to win 5-3 . I have to say Kuznetsov (a 6th rounder) and Tarasenko looked really strong but Ryan Johansen on Canada has to be their most under-rated player and imo is their best player.

What a finish. So disappointing, but atleast this means the competition will be better, meaning better hockey. I guess russias program is good after all. |
