So to the time trial, only 24km to go - but for Gustav Larsson, the best chance he has to gain time on his rivals. Cobo and Kessiakoff will need good rides though.

Ben Day is the first to produce a strong time, beating Santander's Allonca by 48 seconds. Dominique Rollin is 9 seconds behind Day but its a closer battle with Veikkanen. The Finn was 1 second up at the split, onto to go 1 second down at the finish.

As TV coverage picks up, a new High Road rider is set to top the leaderboard - Ghyselinck.

He takes the lead by 14 seconds, while Lelay then goes 2nd at 7 seconds down.

Tom Zirbel then becomes the new leader by 6 seconds - only to have teammate Tom Peterson beat him by a second.

Rohregger goes 3rd, at 4 seconds, but we're soon up to the GC Top 5. Grabovski storms into the lead, by 29 seconds.

It doesnt last though. With a brilliant ride, Gustav Larsson goes a further 27 seconds clear

JJ Cobo needs to fight, and he does, a strong ride by him as he goes 3rd. 54 seconds down on Larsson, but he has done enough to remain ahead of Grabovski in GC.

Florencio loses 2 minutes to end his spell in 2nd overall, but Telenor will be more converned with Kessiakoff. Already 36 seconds down at the midway check - with only 1'20 to play with - he ends up losing 1'10.

He keeps the lead, but only by 10 seconds.
