Let me introduce you to the Cervelo Test Team. We have an excellent lineup with stars like Hushovd, Haussler and former Tour de France winner Sastre. Currenlty, we have the Continental status, but we expect it to get a ProTour license for next year. We have with Mario Chiesa and Mico Mattan two legendary trainers. Also signing new youngsters is important so we are very happy to have Jo Bogaert as a scout and we hope to sign a second scout later this year if our funding allows this. Horacio Barbosa is leading our medical staff. Below you will find our roster for 2010. Diffulty is hard and hard.
Davide Appollonio (I) - 20 years old
Appollonio is a young and talented sprinter. He has a contract to 2012 so he has plenty of time to grow and prove himself. This year he will support or leaders and ride the Giro d'Italia.
Theo Bos (NL) - 26 years old
Bos is another very talented sprinter, who is a little further in his career then Appollonio. Bos will ride the Tour this year to pull the sprints for Hushovd. In the (pre)season he will get the chance to prove himself in mass sprints. 1st @ Tour Down Under - Stage 1
4th @ Tour Down Under - Stage 2
Joao Correia (P) - 34 years old
Also Correia has a contract to 2012. He will be a water bottle carrier for our leaders. His position in the squad may become troublesome if it gets too full.
Inigo Cuesta (E) - 40 years old
Cuesta is the veteran of the squad and with his contract expiring this year, it seems it is going to be his last season for CTT. He will ride the Spanish classics and the Vuelta as a helper for Tondo and Sastre.
Philip Deignan (IRL) - 26 years old
Deignan is a young and talented rider with a contract to 2011, who will get a shot to prove himself in the early season. He will also ride the Giro d'Italia as a helper for Tondo and Sastre. 2nd @ Tour Down Under - Stage 3
Stefan Denifl (A) - 22 years old
Denifl is also a young and talented rider. However, his contract is expiring thus this is an important year for him. He will ride the Giro as an aid to Tondo and Sastre.
Xavier Florencio (E) - 30 years old
Florencio is one of our leaders for the Spanish classics between January and April. He will also ride the Vuelta as an helper of Tondo and Sastre. He has a contract to 2011.
Volodymir Gustov (UKR) - 32 years old
Gustov will be one of the main helpers in the squad. He will ride the Vuelta and has a contract till 2012.
Roger Hammond (GB) - 35 years old
Hammond is another one of our veterans, who's contract is expiring this year. He will be one of the main helpers of Hushovd, both in the cobble races as well as in the Tour de France.
Heinrich Haussler (AUS) - 25 years old
Haussler is one of our leaders in the spring classics. He will peak in March and April and try to get a great position in the Protour individual standings. He has a contract till 2011. 8th @ Australian National ITT Chamionships
4th @ Australian National Championships
Jeremy Hunt (GB) - 35 years old
Another veteran whose contract is about to expire. He will be one of the main helpers of Hushovd, both in the cobble classics as for pulling the sprints in the Tour de France.
Thor Hushovd (N) - 31 years old
Hushovd is one of our leaders. His main goals this year are to win the Ronde van Vlaanderen, Paris-Roubaix and to win the green jersey in the Tour de France. He will get the maximum support of his teammates in achieving these goals. His contract expires in 2012.
Edward King (USA) - 26 years old
King is one of the water bottle fetchers of our squad. He has a contract to 2012, but his place in the team is not save when the squad is getting too large. He will ride the Giro this year.
Andreas Klier (D) - 33 years old
Kliers contract is expiring this year, so it is a very important year for the German. Also he will be one of the main helpers of Hushovd, both during the cobblestone classics as well as the Tour de France.
Ignatas Konovalovas (LIT) - 24 years old
Konovalovas is our ITT specialist and therefore he will ride the Giro and the Vuelta to help the team in the TTTs. He has a contract to 2012.
Brett Lancaster (AUS) - 30 years old
Lancaster is another ITT specialist and he will ride the Vuelta as well. Moreover he will ride the Tour de France as an helper of Hushovd and some of the early classics, where he will pull the sprint for Bos. His contract is expiring this year. 5th @ Australian National ITT Championships
Daniel Lloyd (GB) - 29 years old
Lloyd will be one of our main helpers for Hushovd. He will ride the cobblestone classics as well as the Tour de France. Lloyd has a contract till 2012.
Jaoquin Novoa (E) - 26 years old
Novoa will be a helper to Florencio and Tondo in the Spanish classics and will ride the Vuelta as an helper for Sastre. He has a contract for 2011.
Oscar Pujol (E) - 26 years old
Also Pujol has a contract to 2011 and will ride the Spanish classics and the Vuelta to help Florencia, Tondo and Sastre.
Gabriel Rasch (N) - 33 years old
Rasch is one of the water bottle fetchers of our squad. He has a contract to 2011 and will ride the Giro.
Martin Reimer (D) - 22 years old
Reimer is a very young and talented rider with a contract to 2011. He will ride. He will not ride any big tours. This is a learning year.
Dominique Rollin (CDN) - 27 years old
Also Rollin has a contract to 2011. He will be one of the helpers for Hushovd in the cobblestone classics
Carlos Sastre (E) - 34 years old
Sastre has won a Tour de France and it is therefore not unexpected that he will be one of our leaders in the Tour de France. He will not get a lot of helpers in the Tour, as our main goal is to get the green jersey for Hushovd. In addition, Sastre will also ride the Giro and the Vuelta, where he gets help from Tondo.
Xavier Tondo (E) - 31 years old
Tondo will be one of our leaders in the Spanish classics early in the season. Moreover he will ride the Giro and the Vuelta as an helper for Sastre. Tondo has a contract to 2012.
Marcel Wyss (CH) - 23 years old
Wyss is one of our young talents. He will get a shot at riding the Tour de France as a helper for Sastre. That will be the perfect opportunity to make sure he will get his contract renewed as it is expering this year.

AUSTRALIAN ITT CHAMPIONSHIPS
Buninyoung - Buninyoung
38 kms
Favourites for the Australian ITT are Rogers, Porte and Evans. However, we expected a decent result from Lancaster and Haussler, who are both outsiders for a victory here.
Hansen was the first one to set a sharp time outside the view of the cameras (read I mist making a snapshot of him). Lancaster came very close but could not beat the time of Hansen.
Richie Porte setting the fastest time
Haussler, Day, Meyer, Cooke and Sutherland did a decent job and also they scored very nice top 10 finishes. It was Richie Porte who was the first one to beat the time of Hanson.
Rogers came to short today
Rogers could not beat the time of Porte, who was thinking he had the victory, but as the very last contender out there, Evans took the victory. He will be wearing the Australian Championship jersey in the ITT and TTT races he will compete in for this year.
In the very end it was the world champion Cadel Evans who took the win

AUSTRALIAN NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS
Buninyoung - Buninyoung
171 kms
Evans, Gerrans and Rogers were the favourits for the race, but also Lowe, Porte, Davis and Goss are strong opponents. For Cervelo Haussler was the leader and on a good day he definitively would have a chance. Especially if it comes down to a sprint. Lancaster would help him where he can.
Sutton was the first rider to try something after only 5 kms of cycling. Eventually it were Howard, Calabria, Docker, Smith, Rolfe and Roberts, who got away and quickly took a lead of 2'00" on the pack, but didn't increase any further. So far the pack was in controll.
The leading group with a marginal lead on the pack
Gerrans placed his move early, when there was still 90 kms to go. Meyer and Laporthe jumped along and quickly they closed the gap with the leading group and took a 4'00" lead on the pack. There was everybody looking at each other. Although they having a large squad, Fly V Australia, did not have the riders to close the gap and Team HTC did not want to ride since they had Howard up front. All Haussler could do is wonder why he did not jump along with Gerrans. With 60 kms to go Haussler decided to go alone. The pack let him. Haussler quickly managed to close the 4'00" gap with Howard, Docker, Calabria, Smith, Rolfe and Roberts, but Gerrans, Meyer and Laporthe had placed another attack and the three of them had a 1'00" on the chasing group, with only a couple kms to go.
Gerrans tries to get away from the leading group
It was clear that the new Australian Champion came from the leading group. Behind them Haussler easily rode away from the purchasing group without even placing an attack, but he was no longer in sufficient good shap to close the gap with the leading group. There Gerrans placed to attacks, but Laporthe and Meyer countered. It was going to be a sprint between the three of them. With a downhill sprint to the finish and being the strongest of the group, Gerrans started the sprint from the front. Meyer and especially Laporthe were getting close to him very quickly, but in the end the finishline was to nearby. Gerrans took the win and he is the new Australian Champion.
Gerrans is the well deserved new Australian Champion

Cervelo did not send a great team to the Tour Down Under as most of our leaders do not want to peak before March. Bos will be our leader in the Tour Down Under and will try to score a couple of points for the points jersey. Lancaster, Lloyd and Rollin will set up the sprint trains for Bos. Gustov and Reimer are the work horses. Gustov will try to help Bos on the hills. Reimer will fetch water. Deignan is another captain. He will try to get away with leading breakaways. Especially in the hilly stages. It will be difficult to win the Tour Down Under as several teams brought excellent sprinters.
Since this is a very short stage several riders immediately tried to escape from the start and quickly a leading group with Kohler, Deignan, Muravyev, Willems and Erviti was formed. Behind them several riders tried to make the jump to the leading group and consequently, they did not get a lot of space from the pack. Brandle, Roux, Urtasun and Goddaert and later on also Bodrogi managed to make the jump, but right before the intermediate sprint in Riverton, the escapies were caught by the pack.
The leading group getting away
It was Rasmussen who took the intermediate sprint before Weylandt and Bos. Out of the chaos of the intermediate sprint a new leading group was formed with Boom, Van Groen, Meyer, Hayman, Goddaert and Bertolini. Also Bos tagged along without doing too much peddling. He easily scored an intermediate sprint in Kapunda and climbed up the Menglers Hill road without much effort while the escapies were caught by the pack. Martin was the first one to reach the top before Meyer and Boom.
Nobody managed to escape anymore. Lancaster, Rollin and Lloyd were not in great shape after the climb as many other riders that were supposed to pull sprints as not a whole lot of trains were formed. Bos was in excellent position and waited until the very end to start his sprint. He easily passed Boonen and Cooke.
Total chaos before the sprint
Cooke and Boonen went early
Eventually Bos managed to take both of them and take Cervelos first victory.

TOUR DOWN UNDER – Stage 2
Gawler - Hahndorf
133 kms
Another flat race. Cervelo will try to control the race and prevent attackers to make it to the finish alone. Bos will try to score more points and bonus seconds at the finish
As planned Rollin leaded the pack and set the pace which initially made it difficult for attackers to stay away. The pack made it to the first intermediate sprint, which was won by Steegmans before Leezer and Cooke. After that a small group with Urtasun, Chevel, Coyot, Muravyev, Golas, Morabito and Golas managed to get away. Grabsch, Knaven and Lang a little later made the jump to the leading group. The pack was never further away than 3’30”, where Cervelo and later also Katusha set the pace.
Steegmans wins the intermediate sprint
The leaders managed to stay ahead of the pack during the climb of the day (won by Lang) and the second intermediate sprint (taken by Morabito). The pack at this point was rapidly approaching. Muravyev and later Urtasun desperately tried to stay up front and try alone, but one by one all attackers were swept up by the pack.
Muravyev tries to get away from the other attackers in a desperate attempt to make it to the finish alone
En route to the mass sprint there was a total chaos again as some of the trains formed stalled. Leezer and Steegmans sprinted early, but eventually it was Boonen who took home the win. He takes over the lead in the general standings from Bos, who finished 4th.
Tom Boonen takes the win

A hilly finish, thus we do not have great chances playing out Bos in a mass sprint. Lloyd may have a slightly better chance as his hill stats are somewhat better. Deignan will try to take part in an escape and try to make it to the finish. After that we’ll see how things develop.
From the very start several riders tried to get away. Apparently more teams have the same strategy. You need to have somebody up front as this is one of the few stages where an escape may take it to the finish. Eventually, Deignan, Meyer, Vandenbergh, Boom, Hinault, Gerard, Bookwalter, Lang, Piemontes and Cimolai managed to get away. They made it to the first intermediate sprint, which was taken by Deignan followed by Meyer and Boom. Behind them several riders tried to make the jump from the pack to the leaders. Perez and Garcia Acosta succeeded, but in the leading group en in the pack things were still very disorganized. Boom was fed up with it and tried to get to the finish on his own. He was caught back a little later after he had taken the second intermediate sprint.
Perez is the first one on top of the one and only climb of the day
The pack did not get close fast and was struggling on the hilly finish of the stage. For Vinokourov this was the moment to attack and he made the jump to the leading group. Schleck and Cobo tried to follow, but failed and were caught by the pack a little later. Ten kilometers from the finish line the pack was still 1’13” behind and not closing the gap fast enough. Vinokourov increased the pace a lot. Only Deignan managed to follow but had to let Vinokourov go. Behind them Schleck, Cobo and Devolder managed to make a jump of the remains of the leading group.
Vino makes his move
It was too late. They could not catch Vinokourov. He was the strongest today and deserves the victory.
Vinokourov takes the victory and has done a major step towards winning the Tour Down Under

I'm an idiot and somehow messed up the installation of the PCM Daily 2010 database. Have windows 7 and could only install it manually. Something went wrong and after reinstallation the savefile is corrupted. Anyways, I will restart a new story soon. Not sure about the team. May be Cervelo, may be something else. Suggestions are welcome but I will probably make my own choice anyways.
