Some doubts
lluuiiggii
Ok, so...

1 - Problems with Pro Tour Rankings.
Well, I've noticed that the main races do not gives pro tour points. The ones I'm sure give are P-R, RVV, LBL, Maastricht-Valkenburg and Meisterschaft von Zurich(or whatever you write that). There might be some others, but these ones I'm sure give points. Races like TDF, Vuelta a Espana and so on doesnt give points.
In fact, while I was writing this, I was seeing if there was some "bonus" table on the Editor and I found "STA_UCI_Bonus". In the column "gene_ilist_values" there's only 1 box with something in it. This box is in the same column as "fkIDnewUCI_class=22". I went to "STA_race" and, coincidentally, the races above mentioned(PR, RVV, etc) have "fkIDnewUCI_class=22". SuperPrestige values are normal, that's why the SuperPrestige rankings makes sense. So, I think thats how you correct it right? I mean, I wanna make this sure because I don't want to change something I don't know what will happen, then mess it all up, so... is that right, I just have to put the values on "gene_ilist_values"? If so, I might just copy the values from the official DB.

2 - Riders simply tire out in flat stages.
So, basically, I'm in TDF with 3 riders for sprint trains: Hincapie(FL 83), Boonen(FL 77), and B. Cooke(FL 77-please notice this is the 2003 DB). They're not in the very front of the pack, they are more to the middle, but they simply start to get tired with 30 km to go, like: in a 0% section, speed is 49 km/h, and Hincapie heart rate is 157 while Boonen and Cooke's are 172,173. Even with someone protecting them, they still tire out and when the sprint begins, either they couldn't follow Hincapie or are too tired to sprint and can't even pass Hincapie or other 70 SP guys.

3 - Mountain tatics.
In my carrer, the main GC contenders for the giro were Basso(MO 81) and Kloden(MO 78). And, basically, what happened in almost every mountain stage was Basso attacking, Kloden countering, Kloden stopping after lets say, 10 seconds and Basso stopping after 20 seconds. And it was always the same. What I ask is whether there's a way do change things in a mountain, tatics. For example, if I pace the group up, Kloden will suffer more than Basso, so no way this tatic will give results. I've once thought also that after attacking, your guy has MO 82 and is in a +3 day, and in the group there are other 3 guys with MO 80 each. Would it be useful to try to make my guy set up a high pace and tire the others? I've never tested this, but the point of this thinking is: is tiring the others better than attacking the others? Or would you tire yourself? Are there useful tatics for mountain stages or will it always be the same attack-counter game?

4 - Riders can't relay.
Sometimes I want my riders to relay at the front, but they simply won't enter the 'relay group'. Only if I really put the effort bar on a high number, like 85 or 90. Sometimes even with effort at 99 they won't do it. Initially, I thought it was because the riders relaying were better, but this thinking was crashed when I saw a FL 64 rider relaying and my FL 75 rider can't do it. Just some observations: this is in the middle of the stage, pack is not riding at a high speed, and section is 0%.

Well, these are the main questions, but I also have minor ones:
Is there an 'attacking limit'? Because more than one time, I saw that after some serious number of attacks, sometimes short attacks, I order my rider to attack and his red bar goes 100%-0% in like, 2 secs.
I receive an e-mail from a rider saying "I'd like to negotiate a new contract, bla bla". I click "negotiate" button, a panel with 3 options appear but dissappear almost instantly! Is it a bug or what?

Sorry for really long post, I've searched for similar questions but couldn't find much, also sorry for English and if you are able to answer 1 or 2 questions it already helps a lot, and I think there was something more I was gonna ask, but can't remember it now, so if I remember might ask here aswell.

Thx =D

I'll try to answer some of these. For the DB-editing questions, you have to ask others.

1. From what I've heard, the 2003 DB is quite buggy. Can't help you with the solution, unfortunately.

2. If you do everything right, this shouldn't happen. How is their form compared to other riders in the race? Have you given them enough water? Does this happen on pan flat stages, or are there hills that Boonen & Cooke struggle with?

3. It's a bit optimistic hoping for top results with both of them. The standard proceeding would be to use Klöden to keep Basso fresh (protected) while tiring the rest of the climbers. When Klöden is used up, it's up to Basso, who can either attack, or ride people off his wheel (he should be good enough to do this) using the "dot". Of course, there are a huge variation of tactics you can employ, I'm sure there are threads for it on this forum.

4. This happens to me once in a while, usually with riders with a free role or leaders (it seems). What I do, is give them something else to do (fetching water, goin on the dot) for a short while, then asking them to relay again. It usually works.

Regarding the "attacking limit", of course there is a limit for how many attacks you can launch. As long as you're not Contador or Pantani, attacks will tire you, and the next one will probably not be as powerful.

The negotiate contract thing is a known bug.

Hope this was of some use Smile

@baia
second season =]

@squire
it was useful, but i forgot to mention in 2 that basso is fassa bortolo, and kloden is us postal =P
i know that kloden won't be able to keep up with basso when they attack, but i was trying to find out a tatic to minimize, at least, his loses.
basso has TT 65, while kloden has TT 80, so I was trying to not lose so many time in the mountains and win the giro in the ITT.
unfortunately, there were 3 tts: prologue(almost no time gain), a normal flat one(4:51 gain =O) and a mountain one(loss of 1:45-didn't know that TT attribute had nothing to do with mountain tt)
in the end, basso won with about 3 mins ahead of kloden. if there wasn't that mountain tt and, instead of it, a flat tt, i probably would have won it =/
and what about the other situation of tiring out the other riders in an 'after attack' group?

Okay, I never played with that 2003 DB, but answering to your first question it seems that PT points are fine that way because in 2003 there was no PT but the World Cup.

valverde321
For #2 you have to have your guys near the front. If they are in the middle or back near the end they will tire out easier. But at the front you must protect your 2 key riders from the wind.

lluuiiggii
@kumazan
yeah, but like there are 8 pt races that give pt points, and all the others doesnt. so, it was probably meant to have pt points in the db.

@valverde321
i didn't know they would tire out easier at the middle... at least, the back riders are riding slower than the front ones. anyway, what i do to position my sprinters in a gt stage, for example(i say gt here because green bar is more important in a gt) is have them relaying when the stage starts, so they go to the front, then put them on 10% dot for a few seconds, and then mantain position... like, if you click on them in a normal zoom view you'd be able to see the first riders relaying in the peloton, but they're not directly in the front.

oh, and i don't protect them because im more interested in the GC than in the sprints, specially because my sprinters usually abandon =P

but, even tough i don't protect them, it happens in a stage and then the next day it doesn't. its like a random thing, its not always(though it happened very frequently on this last tdf i played)

If the races which give points are Milano-San Remo, Tour of Flanders, Roubaix, Amstel, Liege San Sebastian, Hamburg, Zürich, Lombardy and Paris-Tours (if I'm not forgetting any race), I'm 100% sure that was meant to be that way. But if you'd like all PT races to give points, then that's another story, and you should edit the DB.

lluuiiggii
@kumazan
yeah, its exactly these ones. but i think i'd like to have every race giving points, so i'll just edit it.

but could you tell me why its meant to be like this? im curious now Smile

kumazan
Because the ProTour didn't exist back in 2003. Instead, we had the (much more interesting, imo) World Cup, and only the big one day races scored points.

hm.. only problem is that m. zurich has 5 stages in the game =P

well, in this case i will spare myself of doing this... its ok the way it is. better stick to the prestige rankings for a more overal view. Wink

lluuiiggii
another question: when a rider has no more stars on the training potential, can he still gain points in that attribute? or has he reached maximum? thx

roturn
then he reached the maximum in this stat.
