It depends on the DB. Have a look into CM_Stages/Variants in your game folder. There should be files like France - Grand Tour.rules and France - Grand Tour_01.descr (or 02, 03,04,05...)
Then open all descr files with right click and editor.
Search the one with file : top_tdf_01(-21) instead of another name like v1_top_tdf_01(-21). Probably it`s the first description file.
Then open the France - Grand Tour.rules the same way and look for the year 2012 what variant is supposed to be there. If Min and Max is the same number there then this descr. is used.
If it`s something like Min1 and Max 3 than it`s on of 1-3 randomy choosen. |

If you're using the V1, yes, that's supposed to happen.
There are more variants included with the V2. |

I know this might have been asked many times before, but i'll ask again:
What's the easiest way to change the variant for year 2011 into an already started save game?
I saw the route when it was presented and the Giro was from 2007 in 2011 and the Tour route was from 2008 for 2011. |

You can find the variants in DYN_variant_stage / date. It should be quite easy to change the years there. |

What about downloading a variant and adding it?
Is it just enough to edit in the stages folder or is there something more (apart from adding the acctual stages to the stages folder)? Need to do something with the db? |

No, it's not. It's a yes - if you want to add a variant to a save game, you need to edit the DB, as described in the post above. |
