We are back in the hills again for stage 6, Pozzato, Wyss and Caruso are favourites, but the big battle will be between 3 men separated by 4 seconds on the GC: Rast, Lelay and Pavarin
We have a 6 man break today: Cassidy, Sobal, Jamieson, Sabatini, Rasmussen and Giraldi, who is looking to claim the KoM jersey
Sabatini takes the first sprint ahead of Jamieson and Sobal
Girardi takes full points on both climbs and with that probably the overall jersey as well
The peleton go over the second climb with the gap down to 4'14" and 54km to go
Tolleson and Dumoulin go clear on the decent, they quickly start closing on the break
31km to go and they catch Jamieson. The rest of the break are 2'34" ahead, while the peleton are 50" behind
As the road flattens Hoffman and Van Hummel attack
With Kolobnev, Van Hummel makes it to the chasing trio.
In the peleton Rast attacks and Lelay is on his wheel straight away
Sobal wins the final sprint from Sabatini and Cassidy
The Kolobnev group goes through at 1'37"
with the yellow jersey + Caruso and Lelay following at 1'56", only 24km to go
Gulhammer and Pozzato are attacking
with 20km to go it is now
Rasmussen solo
Pozzato and Sobal + 11"
Cassidy and Sabatin +30"
Van Hummel, Caruso, Wallays, Kolobnev, Giraldi, Tolleson and Bettini +48"
Dumoulin, Rast, Lelay, Pavarin and Guldhammer + 1'10"
Peleton +2'09"
Over the top a lead group of 10 forms: Cassidy, Bettini, Tolleson, Wallays, Kolobnev, Sobal, Caruso, Van Hummel, Rasmussen and Pozzato. All other riders who were off the front are now in a group of 7, 55 seconds behind.
Bettini is best placed in the front group at +39" so he is virtual yellow
10km to go and Pavarin pulls the chasers to 35 seconds as they catch Rasmussen and Cassidy who are spent
6km to go and Rast Guldhammer and Pavarin are desperately trying to catch the leaders, now only 25" back Rast is in yellow again
1.5km to go and no one wants to take up the sprint, Pozzato is on the front
And Pozzato takes victory, Kolobnev takes 2nd while Bettini sneaks third, could those 8 seconds be vital?
Van Hummel is 4th ahead of Caruso, Tollesonn and Wallays.
Sobal solo's in 8th 20 seconds down
Rast is next, he needs to lose less than 31 seconds. It's tight, we will have to wait for the official results to see if Bettini has done enough
Gulhammer is 10th with Pavarin 11th
Next is the peleton at 1'15"
