Hey, shall I only focus on the continental tour, or the pro tour ranking, when I want to advance to the pro tour division?

You want to be one of the Top 2 Continental teams on the Superprestige/CQ Rankings.

Doesn`t really matter. You must be one of the two strongest teams in the Superprestige ranking. There both kind of races will be counted. Also wearing jerseys for a few days etc.
If your team is quite strong, you can participate on some PT races because good results there will give you more points than on Conti races.
But it`s also possible to be good without any PT results. But it will be harder maybe. You need a lot of results in Conti then.

So ride a lot of Conti races and take part on some One-Day-PT-Classics and maybe one GT.
It always depends on your team. If you play with Landbouwcredit, there is no sense to play a GT or mountain races. But with Acqua e Sapone you should participate on the Giro to reach a TOP5 result with Garzelli and maybe some good results in the Ardennes or the late Season PT classics.

Agree with roturn.

Its worth noting that the later in the season the easier it is to get good results, as lots of the better riders will have ridden 80+ days of racing, and so will have low fitness levels, so often the Vuelta is the easiest GT, and the Tour of Lombardy is the easiest classic for those reasons.
