Hi, I'm new in this world, today I just started playing the game, I got riders database from this page and I'm really fascinated with this game.
However I have a doubt.
Is there any chance to modify a parameter to make gap more real? I cannot believe how ending the stage at sprint, the winner can take 12s advantage while sprinting when (to be realistic) it should be m.t. for all riders.
This makes me to attack with all riders at the end of stages to avoid that seconds that can be necessary after 20 stages!
Thanks for your help. |

I do not believe the 12 seconds was from a gap (since for flat stages it should be 20s before a gap would register) and sounds like it was from a bonus for winning the stage depending on the tour. |

I wrote 12 to choose a number. So, in flat stages is 20 secs limit not to got registered in standings. And what about other Kind of finishings?
Anyway can it be modified?
Sorry for being so curious. |

Flat stages will give the same time to everyone as long as there are no gaps greater than 20 seconds. Any time gained on flat stages would be do to time bonus' for intermediate sprints and the winner. Hilly and Mountain stages have smaller gaps that are allowed, i believe hilly are 7 seconds, and i am not sure of mountain stages. I believe they can all be edited in pcm 2010, but usually its not recommended. |

it is 10 i think for hilly and 7 for mountainstages... i reduced them slightly to 9, 6 if i remember correctly, while i left the gaps for the flat stages at 20, since there are usally no btwn the sprinters and the rest.

Thanks everyone for the replies.
Where do you go to modify that parameters?
Anyway I believe it would be more amazing if the gap were real. Perhaps next edition of the game will complain this one. I remember I played a ¡¡¡¡¡2D!!!!!! cycling game some years ago and times were real. I spent a lot of hours playing it and now it looks strange.
I see the worse part of this too, there would be few differences almost each stage.
Perhaps to make the distance real would solve, longer stages, however with the 2x or 3x accelerator it won't be an issue.
I don't know what you think about it. |

If you put the gaps at just a couple of seconds the gaps will be registered too easily and you could end up losing time with your GC contenders. Honestly, in my opinion. The way it is now is more realistic, as you won't really see gaps on flat stages anyway, unless they are from a breakaway or wind. |

I've driven a lot of stages to check the best gaps for different stages and in my opinion this is the best setup:
10s for flat stages
5s for flat finishes, but hard races (classics, stage of the tour to saint jean de maurienne, ...)
3s for uphill finishes (Mende, AGR, fleche, ...)
1s for mountain finishes (Alpe d'Huez, Tourmalet, ...)
And of course 0s for time trialling.
But you should notice that it is possible for a sprinter to get >10s in a flat stage if he's the very best. I will always set it to 10 because of crosswinds and no gaps after a deadly stage with 0 yellow left for everyone (that happened to me a lot of times).
The parameters must be set individually (per stage) in a Database. The table is STA_stage. |

In the PCM.daily DBs for PCM09, we used the following settings:
Flat stages: 15
Finishing slightly uphill: 10 / 7 (depending on the toughness)
Mountain finish: 4
Worked pretty well. |
