Welcome!
Today is Team Red Bull's press conference. Red Bull decided to be the main sponsor for this new semi-American team when they first heard the news that a new American squad would venture into the unknown world of pro cycling. We have signed a contract with Red Bull as our main sponsor for one season; a season in which we hope to get some top 5's and even a stage win.
Our Secondary sponsors who will also be helping support the team financially throughout the season are as follows:
Team Leaders:
Tejay Van Garderen : Tejay is a very good up and coming star in the USA. He could be the next american stage racer. He has good climbing legs which are only going to get better.
Yauheni Hutarovich : Yauheni is our best sprinter, and actually one of the best in the world. He is still very young and has room for growth, but we think he can get wins right now. This season we expect atleast 4 wins from him.
Daniel Teklehaimanot : Daniel is the probably the best Eritrean cyclist in the world. He is the squads second best climber, but Daniel is also fairly good in the Northern Classic races. We would consider him to be a very good all-rounder.
Steven Cozza : Steven Cozza. I would say that this guy is most known for his awesome moustaches but he is actually a very good rider. He will probably be the lead-out man for Yauheni in the bigger races, but he should get some opportunities to be sprint leader in some smaller races.
Info:
Spoiler
DB: PPDB v5
Difficulty: Hard (so don't expect much success with the current squad)

Given my link to a team of a similar name! Just have to place a comment here, nice looking team with a mixture of nationalities. Nice possibilities for the opening season, will follow this one certainly good luck! |

I was fearful of that. But there hasn't been a story with Red Bull for a while and I really liked the jersey so I had to be them.

January Preview | Races for the month of January: | GP la Marseillaise 1/02 | Volta ao Algarve 17/02 - 21/02 | Tour du Haut Var 20/02 - 21/02 | Kuurne - Bruxelles - Kuurne 28/02 | Classica Sarda Olbia - Pantogia 28/02 | Goals: We hope that the Volta ao Algarve will be a succesful one, with a top 5 finish in atleast one stage. The mountain classification is also a goal in the back of our minds. We want to do well at KBK too with a top 20 finish. And last but not least by the end of the Tour du Haut Var we want Van Garderen or Teklehaimanot to finish in the top 15. Yauheni Hutarovich may be able to pick up a stage win as most riders aren't in good shape yet, during the stretch of February. |

Really enjoyed your R. Hesjedal - Story... But Red Bull as mainsponsor without any austrian rider is a bit lame... But i'll follow thatone for sure. |

I can assure you that there will be Austrians next season. I'm scouting them.
And thanks for the comments about the Hesjedal story. |

Nice to hear... But the percentage of scouting good and young austrians is veeeeery low. But that's just another reason to follow your story. |

Grand Prix la Marseillaise
This stage has puncheur written all over it, but a downhill finish right at the end could be enough for the stronger sprinters to recover and get the sprint win. Sinkewitz is the clear-cut favourite, but that doesn't mean a break wont make it either.
The stage was action packed at the beginning with lots of attacks trying to form the morning break. Bigmat kept chasing the breaks down, so someone must have been in that they didn't feel safe letting get away. Finally a break was formed almost 25km into the stage.
Pictured is the BOTD including, Masuda of Red-Bull, Kvachuk, Popov, Bodnar, Fonte, Le Bon, Deroo, to name a few.
The BOTD would gradually gain time on the peloton before the next news-worthy action took place. Almost 3/4 of the way through the stage the BOTD started splitting up.
Masuda gaining a small gap on the rest of the break during a steep descent.
Masuda would later be brought back and joined by three others. The break would eventually get caught with only 9km left, at the start of the last descent into the finishing town. Two Red-Bull riders were well placed for the sprint; Van Garderen and Diaz. Both would finish outside the top 10.
Murn winning the stage.

Volta ao Algarve Stage 1
The race profile claims it is a flat stage for the sprinters, but I think its a little lumpy for the pure sprinters. Cunego or Pozzato are perfect riders for this sort of profile but we are hoping a break stays away, as that is our only chance at a stage victory. Hutarovich will not be able to survive the hills.
The riders set off and shortly after the attacks came. Alex Howes of Red Bull tried to get into the break but was unsuccessful after the sprinters teams pulled hard at the front of the peloton for their sprinters to get some points at the Intermediate Sprint. About 6km after the peloton rode through the Intermediate check the attacks came once more. This time Taylor Tolleson, Ilundain, Calvente, Kunitski and Isasi formed a small breakaway group. They soon gained 1:30 over the peloton before being joined by another group of riders.
The BOTD going over the final categorized climb of the day.
Now with only 30km left, the break still has about a 2 minute gap on the peloton, Tolleson is the first to be dropped after the pace is raised by the break. 20km later a few more riders have dropped off the back of the BOTD but for the most part its still intact. Only problem is that they only have 40 seconds on the bunch with 9km left. It was obvious at this point that the break would get caught, and they did with 7km left.
The BOTD getting caught with only 7km left in the stage.
And with that the focus transitions from catch the break to lead out our sprinter. Hutarovich was struggling and could not participate in the sprint. Fernandez, Geslin and Pozzato all had their teams work for them on the front but only one of those riders won....
Geslin wins, the first stage, as Pozzato, thrusts his bike towards the line. Henderson finished 3rd.

Volta ao Algarve Stage 2
Should be a day for the climbers. Maybe a break will succeed. Who knows?
The stage began at a very high pace and many riders tried their luck at getting in the break.
Finally 15km into the stage a breakaway group was formed. None of the Red Bull riders got in it today. We really wanted to, but it was impossible to bridge the 4 minute gap.
Quite a ways through the stage now and the break is still ahead. Teklehaimanot could not bare to stay with the peloton and fell back to Autobus 1. His day was over. But there was still action up front.
With 20km left and the break still having a good minute and a half lead, Sicard jumped his breakaway companions and tried to go solo. 5km later his former breakaway partners were swept up by the main bunch, but Sicard still a had 1 minute gap.
Sicard enters the last kilometre with the main bunch breathing on his neck. But will he survive?
Yes! He even gets a time gap back to the group and takes the overall lead.
