'If' Lance retires, not much point Radioshack continuing without someone like Schleck. Half suspect a Garmin-Cervelo type deal being announced sometime soon. |

I really hope they're screwed when the sponsor contract ends at the end of 2011 when Lance retires

That is the main reason I think Phinney is going to sign with BMC. |

I think that's a factor. But mainly I think Phinney really is as dumb as what he says makes him seem to be and he genuinely believed he was on the farm squad of a clean team until the latest investigation came out and a ton of people on twitter pointed out that he's "factually innacurate" when he claimed Leipheimer never tested positive (he didn't know about the positive).

In today's episode of "Armstrong is so screwed"
Betsy Andreu also told The Times that the government has obtained recorded voice mails left on Andreu's message machine by Stephanie McIlvain, a representative of Oakley Inc., a longtime Armstrong sponsor. Andreu said those recordings indicated McIlvain lied when testifying that she hadn't heard Armstrong admit using drugs.

Theres some good stuff on the whole Betsy Andreu/McIlvain aspect in Walsh's Lance to Landis book. (Which was my summer read )

True, his name was Txema González, a masseur in the team.
On a mininote compared to his death, it also says that Sky don't know if they will continue their Vuelta.
This is really sad to hear.
EDIT: Didn't see your post in the thread for August doddy.

I don't think they should continue. Why take the risk? Withdraw from the race, get a proper medical checkup on all who have been affected and still suffering from the disease.

Team Sky are desperately sad to report the death of carer Txema González, aged 43.
Team principal Dave Brailsford spoke for the whole of Team Sky when he said: "We are devastated to report that Txema tragically passed away on Friday evening in hospital in Seville. His close family were with him."
Team Sky's Head of Medical Dr Steve Peters explained: "Txema contracted a bacterial infection which entered the bloodstream and developed into sepsis.
"The toxins from this had damaged the organs in his body and he went into septic shock and unfortunately succumbed to that.
"I should also clarify that this bacterial infection has nothing to do with the viral infection which many of the team have suffered with in Spain, causing stomach upset."
Brailsford paid tribute to a hugely popular member of the Team Sky staff, adding: "Txema will be remembered as a warm-hearted colleague who was a joy to work with and was universally respected by our team and throughout the pro cycling scene.
"Our thoughts are with his family and friends."

So there is no risk if they continue that they have the same.
But still it will be hard to get a free head after that tragedy.
Everybody would understand if they leave.

I agree fully. And I guess the riders who has suffered from the stomach problems and the guys around them have been very unsecure on what they actually have to deal with. I wrote "mininote" simply because I felt it didn't matter when I read it
Hopefully, if any of the riders or others in their staff got the stomach problems they will find out of it, and recover well. |

RIP Txema Gonzalez, Sad week for cycling, but a week of rememberance to some notable passionate poeple.
The Sky doctor has said that "Gonzalez's condition had nothing to do with the sickness that affected all of the British team's riders on the Tour of Spain," added team doctor Steve Peters

Sorry, I've been off the internet almost all week (new place, new job, blablabla), so I missed most of the virus story.
How or where did they get it ? Was there no other team around or other people not related to sky who got it at the same time or place ?
I'm a bit confused here... |
