if you play quick simulate,it pretty real
but in 3d it's fantasy
i started i think over 20 carreers played half season or 1 complete season,a lot of simulate stages,all in normal mode

I play the normal races on extreme, it makes it somewhat hard to win but i like the challenge and the satisfaction if i win
In tt's however, there ain't a tactic that makes up for the the loss in stat points, so i play those on normal. |

If you have played the game regurarly over more than a month or so, I'd recommend hard, because easy is for the real beginners, and normal won't be that challeging anymore after you've got some experience.
I may look happy, but honestly dear. The only way I'll really smile is if you cut me ear to ear

I am fairly experienced, and as a test created a super rider and started to play many mountain stages. Whatever I do, I can never beat Contador...
- Counter when he attacks, I never get to him and he wins by 2+ mins.
- Attack early, the group always catches me with 20-30 riders with 5 km to go after which Contador attacks.
- Have my team ride up front at an incredible pace (90 effort, including Menchov and Gesink in the end), Contador still wins time.
- Have my team ride up front (see below point) at the start of the climb, almost no riders drop the peleton.
In PCM 9 with the super rider I won 8/10 times on hard with the same tactic, now it is just impossible. |

I have played a lot of PCM. I think it is very difficult to find the right difficult level. Either it is too easy or impossible. When I play on hard I get realistic results on hilly and mountain stages, but I find it very difficult to get good results on sprints and cobblestages. I solve that by simulate sprints and cobblestages - and often gets too good results. |

In flat stages i use Hard, but then it come the problem that my captain (Hushovd) will not go on, for example Cav,Boonen,Freire,Greipel but on normal it is the same problem but its just to sprint and you will sprint past everybody!.
Im on the edge... of glory

I'll play it on hard when they fix the AI issues. Until then, normal.
In my HTC career, only mountain-top finishes I've won were stage-long breakaways with riders like Van Garderen and Sivtsov in top form (~95). Otherwise it's just impossible.

I've been playing on extreem for a while but then you get some results like leif hoste winning roubaix , he's not bad on cobbles but not so super that he can beet boonen or cance. |

In my experience there's only one difficulty level that provides for realism: Extreme
But if you can only feel happy by unrealistically winning many races even with weaker teams then you'd better avoid Extreme.

Normal is the most "realistic" difficulty, becasue then it's all even for everybody.
Easy = +1
Normal = 0
Hard = -1
Extreme = -2
That's how it is right?

I also play on hard now. I played on extreme in 2006 with Plakkers Giant. But my 6 rider Aussie-team was a bit too weak. But I won a little 6 day race with a successful breakaway. Best success with PCM at all
@ Hillis
That`s right, but on normal you win the Tour with Jose Serpa So if you are quite good, you win 100+ stages a season. On hard the game feels more realistic even if your riders are weaker then they should be.

Yeah I would say hard is the most realistic just because you are in control of your own riders so a slight advantage to the things you can't control make it the perfect level. Still Extreme is fun and gets the most realistic results for all the AI riders. I find that with my riders the end up a little lower down than IRL. |

I play on hard but with a small custom team (9 of my 12 riders are young scouted cyclist and the rest have less of 70 average). And I manage to win about 5-6 races in a year (mostly breakaways) which I think is quite reallistic
If you have a strong team and quite a good experience, playing on extreme should be great, but with a small team hard is... hard enough
On normal and easy winning is possible in any race with any team and victory doesn't have the same taste.
Team Europcar !!
