Variants length
Ozzy
Do variants need to be as long as race in first season? Or it's possible to make TdF 2011 have 15 stages and PN 2011 with 12?

I'm pretty sure that the number of stages will stay the same. The first 15 stages will then be replaced by the ones you've picked while the rest will be the same as the previous season.

And it will crash (or ignore) if I set more stages than in 1st season?

I think it will just ignore the 22nd stage

Another question to the variants. In the description you can`t set the lenght, relief, stage_type, uphillsprint and gene_f_mountain as for other stages in STA_Stage.
Where can I change this for variants? Because it would be stupid if the Tour 2010 starts with a prologue and the variant without one, but you can`t change the stage_type, so the game has a 200km prologue in 2011 Grin

CrueTrue
The game automatically reads the .cds files for variant stages, thereby giving it the correct settings (if the stage makers have set it up correctly, of course...)

So I don`t have to add anything? But if I want to change uphillsprint, gene_f_mountains or gene_f_timegap to make it more realistic? No chance?
I just saw that in the PCM Daily DB there is the first variant for Portugal in STA_Stage? But no other variants. Is this working?

CrueTrue
You can only make the changes in a save game, not in the variant file itself.

And yes, the variants in the PCM.daily DB work fine.

Thanks for the answer.
Just add my variant TdF into CM_Stages, changed a description and called it ...._03.descr. Then I changed the rules, so that there is number 3 in min and max in 2011.
The savegame was already in February, but was started after 1.0.3.0, after the PCM Daily Pack for 1.0.3.0, so the rules and .descr were already there.
Then I changed the date to 10.12.2010. In game I went on to 1.1.2011 and on 2nd of January 2011 the news with all the variants came, but TdF variant was still the 2010 Cyanide TdF.
Did I anything wrong or isn`t it possible to add more variants later?

Well, if you upload the files, I can try it myself Pfft

If you mean the stages and .descr. They are in my Stages thread.
Savegame: https://www.multiu...DGXWUSRXJN I changed the date with the editor, so there are no results from February to October, but this shouldn`t be the probem I think, because the rules still say in 2011 this version.

Rules: https://www.multiu...PRYP69FNNL PCM Daily Rules, just with some "3" inside.

roturn
Thanks for your help but just found my mistake. The descr file hasn`t been saved for no reason at all Grin
So it was still the 2010 version Grin Will change it immediately and upload the new descr into my thread.

roturn
So I just gave it another try with the correct descr.
On the announcment day there were several races but no TdF this time? The tour in the calendar is still the 2010 version. Is it because of the date changing with the editor?
Would be great if you could test my files.
Rules: https://www.multiu...PRYP69FNNL
Savegame 10.12.2010 https://www.multiu...9M9R65K68N
Stages and descr in my stage thread.

CrueTrue
I'll be testing it with my own rules and save game later today.

Thanks a lot Grin
It might be the date change, so I missed several important dates like the 1st TdF, 1.7, 15.10, so maybe you have to pass these days to have the right variant in 2011, but I don`t have the time to simulate from February to December Grin

So if anybody has a savegame with the PCM Daily 1.0.3.0 in the end of the year. Sept- December and is willing to uplaod it, it would be a great help.

CrueTrue
I just tried (with an old save game), and I'm experiencing the same as you (no announcement of your TdF variant).

I made a few tests, and there's definitely a problem with the .descr file. It can't be loaded in Excel like the other .descr files, so something is messed up somewhere, perhaps a missing "

CrueTrue
I found it.

Missing " after Nimes.

Will try again now.

CrueTrue
I don't have time to make some proper tests, but my 1st attempt of including it in a save-game failed.

It will work, though, for new careers as long as you add the " after Nimes and add the variant in the rules file.

Thx a lot. Stupid me.^^ Just tested it. too with the ". But in the announcement it was the Cyanide 2010 version again ;( So I asked in the Cyanide Forum in the variants thread. Hope Svam can give me an answer. Otherwise I simulate the whole season if I find time.

Roturn: Have you put the correct descr. file in your variant thread? Or is it the wrong, non-working descr. file that is up for download in your thread?
