Dont make many stages but im really partial to georgia races soooo I thought id give a shot at making a fantasy 2010 Tour de Georgia.


stage 1 Athens - Atlanta 110k
completely flat stage should make the sprinters happy figured no picture necessary.

stage 2 Atlanta TT 18.5km
TT takes place in the heart of atlanta, using alot of the same course from the crit in the TdGA in 08.

stage 4 Dahlonega - Dahlonega 166km(also known as the GA 6 century gap)
Fantasy stage using the course of a century ride that takes place annually in north GA.
Test your stamina with more than 11,200 feet of vertical climbing over the 104 mile course. Elevations for the six gaps in this ride range from 1,400 feet to 3,460 feet. The toughest climb, Hogpen Gap, will test even the strongest riders, averaging a 7% grade for seven miles, with sections as steep as 15%.

stage 5 Dahlonega - Blairsville 167km
Connector stage between the two mountain stages, 2 mountains in between, the first is about 7% grade the 2nd starts at 4 but hits up to 10 at points. It is a stage for the sprinters.

stage 6 Blairsville - Brasstown Bald 148km
same route from the 2008 version

Average : 10.9 %,
Length: 4.9 km,
Height start: 900 m,
Height top: 1435 m
Gradient: 535 m,
Maximum: 20 %

the info on brass town bald is actually off a bit the actual route does hit up to 24% but ive taken the advice of a couple of editors and taken edited most of it out.

Nice work. It`s definitely better to work longer on mountains to avoid that high slopes or lots of 50m descents during the climb. That destroys big fun.

Is it equally important on descends? I usually neglect +20% sections on downhills.

The stages look great btw.

I always take care downhill, too, but I agree it`s not that important then way up.
I meant that the climb isn`t in one way with just positive slopes, but that every 500m there is a small part with negative slopes. There are some mountain stages with about 20 of those annoying valleys,

not sure what to do for a 6th stage, a final mountain TT? flat TT? or a sprint stage 3.

so either 2 tts or 1 tt and 2 officially flat stages with a 3rd stage ending in a group sprint as well. ToGA 08 had 7 stages, 4 of which i think were sprint stages or the likes and i feel thats way over the top, so i for sure only want to do 6 stages.
