I'm having trouble with the PCM expansion pack. Namely, after extensively editing the DB, changing teams, adding riders, etc, I'm finding the game crashes randomly in the first stage, after the prologue (TDF).
I have no problems if I use the default 'Official' DB. I can race or sim through multiple stages without any crashes.
Ergo, given the problem is clearly with the PCM Expansion pack (and likely the equipment addons, but I'm not sure) I'm wondering if there's a version of the DB file that comes with that, covering only team/rider changes, and not adding in the equipment/races etc?
Any help would be appreciated.

Are you saying that you edited the DB "extensively"? |

CrueTrue, correct me if I'm wrong, but the all the added equipment, etc. in the PCM Expansion Pack does add to the amount of RAM needed to run the game. It may be that you have to lower your graphic settings in order to accommodate this. |

Crue,
yes sir, I changed around 15 team names, edited a number of riders/rider names. External to that, I added new team uniforms, mini-maillots, skin files, team logos, etc.
Something somewhere is causing the game to crash once I get to stage 1. Unfortunately I can't find a way to isolate it. However, I can run through many stages using the default DB. Ergo, there's some issue with the expansion pack DB, its associated equipment files or the DB since I made edits. Not sure how simply editing team names/rider names would cause that though?
To be clear, I'm not trying to cast blame on your otherwise outstanding expansion. I'm just looking to fix the issue somehow, even if it means starting over in recreating my DB.

Tuco,
I tried that, having read some other issues related to equipment/graphics etc. However, I'm running a system with 12GB of 2300 RAM and 2x 2gig radeon cards. Of course, it may be the coding in the game not being able to fully utilize my overkill hardware, but still, I don't think I have a hardware shortfall.
I tried lowering video settings/res etc. No difference. Still crashes in S1.

Did you check whether it worked properly before your edits?
Otherwise, as Tuco said, it's no secret that the PCM.daily DB does require more than the original DB, mainly due to the equipment which take up more RAM.
You should also be aware, though, that your game settings are reset after installing the PCM.daily DB. This can have an effect too. |

Crue,
yes, I noticed that the settings needed to be adjusted after the DB. Ultimately, I can't say if it worked prior to my edits. I used the vanilla DB game for a couple of weeks and then installed the PCM expansion and used it as a starting point for my own DB. More fool me.
I may have to reinstall the whole thing to test that.
I'm assuming from your replies that there isn't a names/teams only version of the PCM expansion add-on, less equipment?
Thanks for the info/help offered here.

Unfortunately not.
I suppose, though, that you've got some editing skills - and it's not the most difficult task to remove the equipment.
You'd need to edit DYN_team (the equipment columns - use the settings that come with the OfficialRelease), DYN_national_team (same as DYN_team), STA_equipment (replace it with the table from OfficialRelease) and STA_equipment_marques (same as STA_equipment). |

Crue,
thanks - I'll give that a try. Maybe I won't have to start over from scratch.
Do we know why some people experience problems with the PCM expansion pack graphics? Odd, given I have a machine that far exceeds the recommends requirements on even high end graphics games/apps.
Thanks for your help, as ever.

Unfortunately I couldn't get a working equipment free version of my edited PCM expansion pack .cdb file. It crashes on compiling. There's something off in the merger of your tables above with the edited equipment columns. Not sure why it spits it back out.
Anyway, at least I have a clean DB to start over from, after combing the VraiNom DB and elements of the OfficialDB file.
Couple more weeks editing and I might be set!
