recently purchased a new I-Pod Classic to replace my old one which had a severly cracked screen so i had to choose what to listen to by working out the band and song from the first 2 letters of the name.
spent the last few days putting my cd collection onto my new one but there are a few cd's that i either borrowed off mates or have lost since i put them on my first one.
is there any way of getting the songs off my original i-pod and onto my new I-Tunes to put onto my new I-Pod? I've tried simply plugging the old one into my computer but as my I-Tunes is sync'd to my new one it doesn't work.
i've got a laptop as well so i was thinking maybe i could connect that to the internet, download i-tunes and sync it with my old i-pod and then transfer the music over via a memory stick. would that work?
This is how i did it a couple of years ago though. May be different for newer ones.
1) Connect the iPod to your PC. If iTunes starts syncing (ie erasing) your music automatically, hit the X in the upper right hand corner of iTunes display, to the left of the search box, to stop it.
2) In Control Panel, Portable Media Devices, double-click your iPod.
3) In the Tools menu -> Options, in the View Tab, check "Show hidden files and folders."
4) Navigate to the Music folder. On my 3rd gen 'pod, the full path is Portable Media Devices\GINA'S IPOD F:\iPod_Control\Music
5) Select all the music folders, and drag and drop them into a folder on your hard drive, or directly into iTunes.
