y do u need the game?

and is the stage editor any simpler or better?

First of all, it's protected by the same system as the game itself. Second, the editor uses the same graphic engine as the game, therefore you'd need pretty much the entire game to get the editor.

And yes, the editor is simpler and better. That seems to be the general consensus.
