I'd like to create my own stage race, basically a tour of the area I live. I've messed with the Stage Editor and feel I know what I'm doing for the most part.. I have a few questions tho.. I'll just start with one and add them as I get to them..
-I've taken a screenshot of an aerial view on google maps and imported into Stage Editor, but how do I scale it properly so that 1k on the image equals 1k in the game/editor?
Thanks! |

Ok, now I've got a real problem... for some reason, every time I try and add water in stage editor, it crashes. I can add rivers still, just not bodies of water. The very second I right click after selecting 'add water' I get the error saying it has 'encountered a problem and must close' Anyone have any ideas why this is happening? |

The stage editor crashes quite often. It would probably be easier to import GPS data, which you can get by making a map at bikemaps or bikeroutetoaster. |

will doing this add the water for me? the race that I'm making is on an island, so the water part is kind of important.
-----------------------------
And back to my first question.. I've loaded a height map of the island and created a road around the perimeter of the island, but in real life, this road is only 12.872km, in stage editor it shows up as 142.32km. Is there a way to get the scaling to come out right, or do I just have to keep making the image smaller until it's as close as I can get it?
Thanks |

I tried loading my saved gpx file from Bike Route Toaster and I get an error every time (attached).

It's in the USA
btw...the kml file loaded (in place of the gpx), but the terrain in the editor looks nothing like the map..looks almost like just a randomly generated terrain to me

thats because there isn't .dem files for the USA yet.
They should be coming soon.

ahh...are the .dem files saved in the game somewhere? I've tried looking up .dem's of the location I'm after, and saved them as .tga's and loaded as height maps, which worked, but that's where I encountered the problem with the scaling all off.. I suppose I could wait for them to be released tho and continue messing around in the editor working on my stage building skills.
Thanks for the help tho! much appreciated |

Just do some European races for now I'd say. Get practised at the editor. I know before I did any stages I practiced by doing the Alpe D'Huez. Tourmalet, countless city centre criteriums.
