TV coverage of the tour
binga58
Curious to see what other countries coverage of Le Tour is like. In Australia we usually get about 4 hours coverage live (mostly come in after an hour of racing) till the end of each stage, and highlights in the morning and evening as the live stuff is 10pm till 2pm.

How bout you guys who live in europe, what times is it on? And how do you watch so much of it? Are you on holidays?

You are very lucky to see 4 hours live.
In Germany Ard/Zdf has a daily broadcast from 4 to 5,30 pm.

Eurosport (the scandinavian version, at least) show the whole stage on weekends (thank god there's no tennis on right now, like during the Giro). On weekdays, either 3-3.5 hours, or the whole stage.

Last year, I don't think we got as many days with whole stages.

Once you get rid of the half hour of crap at the start and end it is really about 3 hours.

German Eurosport normally shows between 14.30 to the end. Mountainstages 100% + half an hour before and after -.-
Forget ARD/ZDF Grin

In flat stages we, in Spain, usually see the last 2-3h of the stage. The mountain stages are shown since the start, and stages as today's (mid mountain + July 14th) are shown since the start too.

They are repeated later in the evening too, but just the last 50-70 kms.

Here in the Netherlands, mostly the whole race from the beginning on "Nederland 1" , and 30 min after the race. Sometimes from 3 pm, but mostly the whole race Wink

Shiverson
In Spain is from 15:00 on flat stages (more or less) and all the mountain stages 100%.
We have no ads and we have Pedro Delgado as commentator who tells very bad jokes but is funny and nice.

EDIT: Kumazan ¬¬ At least i talk about Perico Grin

Our Eurosport showed all stages from start to finish except the one that was 225km long, they tuned in at around 14:15.

So that's 40+ hours of bike racing so far this July, couldn't have wished for a better start of my holidays Grin

British Eurosport show about 4 hours of flat stages, and mountain stages we get the entire day from neutral start to finish.

..Oh, we get the final stage in full too, but thats not much different from normal flat stages schedule wise.

Good point! I'm usually drifting off by 11. I wish it went straight to sherwin and leget instead of keenan

to sherwin and liggett *shakes head*
they make countless errors
1. they kept calling the col de madeleine the col de columbiere
2. on the cobbles stage, they kept thinking Thomas was going to be in yellow
3. they think that a man going back for biddons has 'cracked'
4. it's like a sightseeing tour - i DO NOT care (same for ToC - i think i saw the staples centre 500 times [slightly exaggerated])

In the US, versus covers about 3 hours more or less for flat stages and anywhere between 4 and 5 hours for the mountain stages

In Denmark, TV2 starts with a hour warm up to the stage, and then they go live on. On mountain and hilly stages the whole stage is live, while the stages for the sprinters is live a little later.

After the stage is over, there is a short program with xperts comments of the stage, then news, and then a another half time with interviews and stuff like that... Then done for the day.

So far i dont think i have missed over 10 minutes of anything. And im not gonna Pfft

I get OLN which shows the Versus feed. We get 3 hours of Flat stage coverage and 4-4.5 hours of Mountain stage coverage. Last year there was recap shows with Rolle, and Hummer but not this year. i read somewhere that OLN will not be showing the Tour next year but Rogers customers will be able no watch still with a special Sports Net channel. Which I don't have. I'm basically screwed for next year.

1. They kept correcting themsleves on this and realised they were doing it wrong. It became quite funny after a while.
2. They kept thinking it was possible that he would be. And it was.
3. I've never heard this?
4. They don't do this once the race is in high gear, they only do it during the monotonous stages where very little is going on. I personally quite enjoy it and appreciate the effort that Paul undertakes to give us this information.

Completely agree with the person who said about the crap before the real coverage in Australia, all Gabriel Gate does is make me hungry, I wouldn't mind if he would cook that for me, but at 10 30 at night, just put the race on.

binga58
i like it when liggett and sherwin say something like "lance armstrong is not going to beat the time of fabian cancellara, hes racing towards the finish line, oh and he's gone into first place can you believe that paul" they always get the times wrong hahha
