Sorry to ask a dumb question but ive never been to a cycling event before. I live near Melbourne this years World champs city and i have been looking for ticket prices.
Is cycling usually a free entry event as the website only has corporate tickets for sale. Thus i assume i can rock up and find a perch for free.
What do you guys think? |

It's usually free, except if you go to corporate stuff, and then get a seat in the stands, etc.
I was in Plouay 2000 (and another couple of times, but in 2000 it were the WC), I was standing like 300 m from the line all race long, for free.
The days prior I could even seat in the stands, for free, during minor events (Junior TT and Women TT).
One thing to know though, about attending cycling races, even though you won't get the atmosphere, you see much better on T.V. which is partly why I hardly ever go to such things any more.

I turned up in Mendriso a couple of hours into the road race and still got a spot 250m from the finish. The hills were packed already though, as far as watching goes, I was next to a caravan which had a tv, so after the leaders went by we watched that.

I was in Stuttgart 2007, and i was 250 m away from the finish line and had a good place to look at a big screen there for free.
And a pre-race-tip: Go to these tents with equipment (they should be after the start/finish line) after the race, you can get many things there

Basically what Aquarius said, you'd only need a ticket for grandstands and hospitality, the rest of the course will be free.
I wouldn't buy a ticket and see where you can get on the course. Oh, and Enjoy the race (i'm sure we'll say that closer to the time too)
