mountain time gaps
binga58
just recently completed the tour and veulta and am a little pissed! i was leading both only to be beaten in the last week on both, no issue my fitness was goin down. however it seemed to me that when i finished with no one in sight on a hill climb i only gained 20 secs, yet when i was right behind a group i lost a minute. didnt seem too fair to me!

If you finish behind a group the gap appears larger, because the group gets the time of the first rider in the group. You could be fairly close to the last, but he's getting the time of the first guy, who could be much further away (depending on the size of the group).
