First of all: I’m sorry for my horrible English.
The Cycling-rankings are rankings that are based on the performance of the cyclists in a part of cycling. They have been made and he will be maintained by SnelleJus. The rankings give us a view of how good someone is in a certain area. I’ve made them to help database makers with handing out their stats. They could have a look on the rankings and determine who’s a good cyclist on a certain area, and who’s not.
The results I’ve used, are from CQ-ranking. I’ve used the results of the last 4 years, but last year counts a lot more than 4 years ago. And furthermore, from last year there are a lot of races which count for this ranking, while there only are a few races from 4 years ago which counts. I’ve posted the point system and I’ve explained the point system at every ranking.
By now I only have one ranking of the prologues, the prologue-stat then, but I have got in mind to make at least a ranking for the cobblestone-stats and maybe one for the timetrail-stats and for the really heavy mountain stages. I will decide this later. At the rankings there will only be the top 25 (because otherwise, this topic would be very big), but if someone would like to have the whole ranking, off course, he could send me a PM with the rankings he wants.
I’ve got a few requests to you too. I like hearing some critic and I will listen to it, but keep it polite please. Futher, off course you can ask something about cyclist, how they get their rank, which races they got points, how many points someone got, but don’t be upset if I don’t answer in 24 hours, I’ve got more things to do in my life. I also like it, when I know for which my rankings are used, so if you use them for a database, could you please mention my ranking? You are then happy, because you have nice stats, and I am happy because my ranking got some little promotion. Last, but not least, if you would like to have this ranking at an another forum (your forum?), and I didn’t already put it there, you can send me a PM, and I will place them there then, off course.
The prologue ranking has been meant for prologues, as the word says. Only results in real prologues count for this ranking, but I’ve smuggled a bit. The prologue of this year’s Tour the France counts for example, but the prologue of last year’s Tour the France doesn’t count.
Scoring
The scoring is like on the screen above. Last year’s races count very heavy, and it becomes less when it’s longer ago. Last year is now from 6 July 2009 until 5 July 2010. If I update it until August, for example, then last year will be from 31 August 2009 until 30 August 2010. Then all points of .1-races from July and August will expire, and the 1,2,3,4-category races will count less, and the races which have been driven then, will count heavy.
Furthermore, there are also points which are divided based on continuousness. Every cyclist gets above his scoring also three times the number of times he scores points. By this measure I want to filter out the nine days’ wonders. An example: Cyclist one finished last year 5 times at the 11th place in a Pro Tour race (100 points in total). Cyclist 2 finished 1 time, with some luck or with good weather conditions, on the 3rd place in de Tour-prologue. He gets also 100 points. In this case, I think cyclist 1 should have better stats than cyclist 2, because he is more constantly, while cyclist 2 only has got some luck, 1 time. Therefore cyclist 1 gets 5x3=15 points more, and cyclist 2 only 1x3=3 points.
The ranking
This is the top 25:
The first cyclist is, off course, Fabian Cancellara. Second is Kreuziger, who is very constant with 8 mentions, followed by Farrar, Millar and Contador. Something very conspicuous is that without the tour-prologue, Kreuziger would be in the lead. By winning the tour-prologue, got Cancellara 120 points, while Kreuziger only had 30 points with his. Furthermore I mentioned that from the top 40 of the tour-prologue, there only were 2 cyclists who weren’t in my database. I concluded that there were only a few nine days’ wonders. The best countries are Spain, USA, GBR and also the Netherlands with 5 cyclists between place 26 and 40.
When we have a look at the ranking of 2010, there are a lot of the same people in the top (logical). Cancellara is first, followed by Millar, Farrar, Kreuziger, Contador, Leipheimer, Vinkourov, Martin and Thomas. Last, but not least, I would also like to mention Hushovd, Hincapie and Lancaster. If the ranking would be without the last year, Hushovd would be the leader. Because of missing a big part of this season, he couldn’t get any points this year and he stays at 92. Also Hincapie and Lancaster have got a lot of points in the past years, while they didn’t have some this year.
Final Words
For the complete ranking you can always send me a PM, and polite critics are always good to have. Further you can ask me something about the divide of points, and questions about some cyclists. If you use him, the ranking always likes it, if he’s mentioned.
