Hello.

I’m trying to complete my first story, and also to complete a whole season.
Team: Saxo Bank
Difficulty: Hard/Hard
I’m choosing the Swiss nationality for me, so I can manage a smaller and better team for the world championships. And also to get Cancellara.
I will not use training camps.
Because I am a maniac for details it will be hard to set an optimal race calendar. So, I’ll do something unimaginable, copying the team’s actual race calendar from the website. That’s for the races that took place until now, plus the TdF for which the team has announced the lineup. There seems to be a problem with Jonathan Bellis as he was not present in any of the races this year, but I will use him in the lineup replacing the riders that have too many raceing days. For the rest of the season I will try and balance the schedule so the riders are evenly raced.
Even if I plan on playing only till the end of 2010 season, I don’t want to bankrupt the team so I will keep the expenses for trainers, scouts, and medics reasonable (though I will get the world class ones).
I will not post pictures, because I will surely be tempted to put too many of them. Instead I will try to give race reviews to the best of my abilities.

Wish me luck.

January 1st
So here I am at my new post managing one of the best cycling teams. My first message in the inbox reads a warm welcome to Team Saxo Bank.
This first day I want to get a comprehensive view of all activity.
First of all the season goals: Win Ronde van Vlaanderen, Win Tour de France, Top 3 Liege-Bastogne-Liege
Also the main sponsor has its eye on several important races: Tour de France, Liege-Bastogne-Liege, Ronde van Vlaanderen, Paris-Roubaix, Amgen Tour of California, Criterium International
Next, finances. The initial sponsor investment is 480435€. I need to be very careful with this because, as a top team, we need the best staff and we have one of the best (and also best paid) cyclists.
And now let’s meet the squad. We have a great mix of proven veterans and young stars. Given our status the squad needs to perform very well in all types of races (grand tours, classics, and other races), so we have cyclists specialized in the classics, time trial, and also all rounders.
The riders with their nationality and specialization are:
Jonathan Bellis – UK – Sprinter
Matti Breschel – DEN – Northern Classics
Fabian Cancellara – SWI – Time Trial
Baden Cooke – AUS – Sprinter
Laurent Didier – LUX – Climber
Jakob Fuglsang – DEN – Climber
Juan José Haedo – ARG – Sprinter
Lucas Sebastian Haedo – ARG – Sprinter
Frank Høj – DEN – Northern Classics
Jonas Aaen – DEN – Sprinter
Dominic Klemme – GER – Northern Classics
Kasper Klostergaard – DEN – Northern Classics
Gustav Larsson – SWE – Time Trial
Anders Lund – DEN – Northern Classics
Jaroslaw Marycz – POL – Sprinter
Michael Mørkøv – DEN – Northern Classics
Stuart O'Grady – AUS – Fighter
Richie Porte – AUS – Time Trial
Alex Rasmussen – DEN – Time Trial
Andy Schleck – LUX – Stage Races
Fränk Schleck – LUX – Puncheur
André Steensen – DEN – Time Trial
Chris Anker Sørensen – DEN – Climber
Nicki Sørensen – DEN – Puncheur
Jens Voigt – GER – Fighter
The staff. We have a world class trainer Lars Isaksen from Denmark to train our fighters and puncheurs. But we need more trainers and with different specialties. So browsing through the vast list of trainers available we found 3 world class trainers that meet our demands:
Pietro Algeri from Argentina will handle the classics riders, Dominique Arnould from France the climbers and sprinters, and Lionel Marie also from France our time trial specialists.
And last but not to be overlooked, the racing equipment. We will be using Specialised Frames, Zipp Tyres and Bell I Helmets.

That’s all for the first day, let’s get some sleep and continue tomorrow.

Good luck. Use some empty lines for spacing, it makes for more comfortable reading. Wink
