The last stage in Mount Hood should not bring any major changes in the GC as it's a rather short stage made for sprinters. The previous stage made for sprinters ended with a very tight battle for the first place between Forster and Vaitkus, the German taking the stage win by only just. And it's pretty clear that today we will see Vaitkus trying to get his revenge on the UBS rider
Only one rider was interested in going away from the pack today and that was Abal's team - mate at Santander, Didac Ortega, who was also first at the top of the only climb of the day
He also took the intermediate sprint and even though he had a solo breakaway he managed to stay in front of the pack until the last 17 kilometers of the stage
As expected, the stage head to a mass sprint where once again it was difficult for a team to control it. With just 3 kilometers left, Telenor were in front, with Falcon on their right side, while Red Bull and Yamaha were on the other side of the road
Florencio did an amazing job to lead Vaitkus out and put him in the perfect position before the final kilometer, with Brea and Friedman hardly keeping it up with him, Priamo and Forster were trying to get something back after some bad positioning at the start
Inside the last kilometer, Vaitkus found himself in a comfortable lead, with Brea being the only rider that could still be a threat for the first place
This time Vaitkus managed to hang and took the stage win and the green jersey as well. Brea finished second, while Arashiro sprinted for the third place
Alarcon finished safety in the pack and even though he lost the points jersey he still brought Ikea 3 stage wins, the overall victory plus the KoM and U25 jerseys
