As there are a few Danes here on the forum and i'll be going to Copenhagen for a few days i was wondering if it would be worth it to bring my bike. Are there any nice routes to take around Copenhagen, preferably not traffic infested, with some nice scenery. I took a quick peek at google maps and was thinking north route along the coast, head inland (lotsa lakes) and circle back ? Any spots/roads/lakes i'd have to see (or try to avoid)? |

I have never cycled in Denmark at all, but I find this useful for finding new routes:

There's a few ideas on the following site. The three routes mentioned are all outside Copenhagen, but not by much. One of them is the World Championship route - the one that's going to be used in 2011 - so that'd perhaps be fun to try out.
If you click the name of the route, you can download it in GPX / Garmin Edge format:
https://www.climbs.dk/kobenhavn.htm (scroll down to "Ruter" - the first list is an overview of the 'climbs' we have here).
That's the best I have for now. Enjoy your stay in Copenhagen |

Also, if you'd like to try out a route alongside the ocean, there's this route: https://connect.garmin.com/activity/15...y/15830665. You may want to look at that guy's other routes: https://connect.garmin.com/explore?own...rentPage=2
If you want a route starting in Copenhagen, you can try this one or this. |

@Ponka, yup i use similar sites (e.g. gpsies.com). Problem i have with most of those sites is that they evolve more around quantity then quality. And lot of routes aren't really suited for race bikes in my experience.
Ha! thx Crue those are some good tips indeed. Especially this one looks like a good route. And i'm actually looking for routes outside of Copenhagen (i have enough traffic lights here where i live ) I think i'll create my own route and combine this one with a lap around the WC route. The long stretch alongside the Hilleradmotorvejen (there i said it ) looks a bit boring.
It's kinda funny (very close to stupid) that i forgot Gamin connect has routes to browse too since i have an Edge 705. Usually i plot my own route but i've never been to Denmark so i have no clue where to go and what to avoid |

The thing with Hillerødmotorvejen (well, you tried ... ) is that there's an excellent (or so it's said) bike path right next to it, meaning it's a good way to 'come back' to Copenhagen after a ride in the suburbs.
If you bring me a bike, I'll go with you |

Carefull there , i might just be able to bring an extra bike but most likely my own bike alone will be a tight fit. |

Crue, thanks for the tips. I did the northern route along the coast, unfortunatly only 25k since it was raining cats and dogs and i was slowly freezing on my bike. Great city and country to visit. I had a blast! I may return there in July for the Roskile festival (been asked to take pictures).
btw, if u read this, check the cycling photos inbox. I submitted some photos of the first two Giro stages some time ago |
